On tap at Mondial de la bière Montréal 2015. A black beer topped by a minimal dark beige head. Roasted aroma with dark chocolate and brown sugar. Some hints of licorice too. It’s full-bodied, quite dry and with a pleasant carbonation level. Roasted flavor with dark chocolate and licorice. Some bitterness too. Lasting roasted finish. Sure a nice one, although sort of one dimensional. 150611

On tap at Mondial de la bière Montréal 2015. A small, white head sits on top of an unclear yellow colored body. Banana, generic citrus, some orange and lemon in the aroma. It’s soft on the palate, medium to thin and rather dry. Some hay notes in the flavor, with oranges, lemon zest, banana and a pale malt backdrop. Medium length fruity finish. A refreshing and quenching beer, but also quite boring.150611

On tap at Mondial de la bière Montréal 2015. An almost clear, amber colored beer topped by a minimal sized off-white head. Weak aroma with some vinous notes, grapes and pale malts. Faintly spiced. The flavor is more pronounced and interesting, the pale malts still keeping in the back. Pleaseant vinous flavor, rather fruity, with a medium to full body and a soft carbonation. Fruity and vinous finish. Sort of boring this one, but still quite nice. It’s the vine barrel ageing that saves the day. 150611

On tap at the source. Full glass, my nightcap and my first disappointment. Hazy murky grapefruit juice with a quickly receding off white head. Some tropical and stone fruits but a bit of a grassy and vegetative presence detracts from that. Big caramel maltiness should be a bit more restrained. I finished it, but wouldn’t order it again.
