Description
With a foundation in homebrewing in 1992, Paul Kavulak set about to experiment within a hobby that would prove both entertaining and, at times, refreshing. Over a period of roughly 13 years, and with the able assistance of his wife Kim, this activity led to the opening of the Nebraska Brewing Company’s brewpub in Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion, Nebraska, on November 17, 2007. A new production brewery and taproom were opened in January of 2014. Located on the south side of the Omaha Metro, but still a large part of the Omaha Craft Beer scene.

Can. Pours a clear amber brown with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains with a bit of nuttiness and a bit of a bread note. Flavor has a combination of sweet grains and bread with just a hint of toffee.

750 ml capped bottle. Dirty, cloudy bright gold with lasting head retention. Aroma upfront is mild white wine with a touch of floral type hops, traces of yeast.

Flavor start with oak tannins, funky grape hints, and a hop blend that get progressively more bitter as I sip. Oak hangs around after the sip with the bitterness. A lot going on in this brew, really busy. Yeast chewiness with a dry finish. Lots of oak and Chardonnay grapes, honestly the hops are not present here, but a mild alcohol burn is.

Can from Craft Beer Base, 6.9% it pours a deep copper with a big foamy off-white head & great lacing that clings to the glass. The aroma is a wonderful mix of fruits and resinous dank weedy pine. Medi to full bodied with a pleasingly full mouthfeel and a palate cleansing dry finish that has you yearning for another sip. The taste is bitter with a touch of boozy heat, pine bark woodsy hoppiness with a touch of fruity notes. The overall taste is nicely balanced and you get a touch of biscuit from the malts that provides a hearty counterpoint to the hops. While it won’t be blowing you away it will definitely satisfy you - good stuff.

Can. A- Tangerines, citrus, hoppy, piney, woody. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Citrus, bitter, pine, tangerines. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- Not near as bitter as I was expecting. A fair amount of citrus, but not really that much depth. It was good but nothing I’d really crave.
