On tap @ the brewpub. Slightly hazy amber body with a small beige head. Aroma has some caramel malt, biscuit, bread and lots of citric hops, hint of grapefruit and some grassy hops. Flavor is quite sweet, but has a fine bitter balance, caramel malt, toast, biscuit, pine and marmalade. A fine body with a long and bittersweet aftertaste. Too bitter for an amber ale, but why get stuck in styles. This is a smooth and tasty beer somewhere between an amber and IPA. The kind of beer you just need another of if you happened to like beer.

On tap at the brewpub. It’s an unclear, amber beer with a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma is quite hoppy, with citrus peel and pine cones, as well as some sugary sweetness. Maybe a tad too sweet in the mouth, and maybe a tad too bitter got an Amber, but I like it. Citrus peel, pine cones and sugary sweetness, some light roasted notes and a little bready hint. Full body, next to sticky, and with a nice carbonation level. Lasting finish. Yet another fine brew from this brewery, couldn’t resist having one more. 130201

On tap at the brewpub. It pours a very dark brown body, next to black, and a small, creamy, beige head. Nice lacings too. The aroma has a delightful citrusy touch, grapefruit and some orange peel, as well as a roasted note, hints of liquorice and a yeasty note. It’s creamy and full-bodied on the palate, and quite bitter tasting. Some roasted malts, a hint of liquorice and medicine, some yeast and quite a lot of grapefruit. The bitterness lasts for a good while, kept company by roasted malts and a faint hint of liquorice, medicine and yeast. A really pleasant one, wasn’t hard to determine whether I’d have another one our not. 130107

On tap at the brewpub. It pours a dark brown body, looking unclear, and topped by a dense, beige head lasting for a good time. The aroma has a nice blend of chocolate and coffee, with a light piney hoppyness and after a while, some chili hints. In the flavor, the chili is far more pushing, coming very strong after a second or two, then slowly calming down, but never disappearing. The warmth stays in the mouth and throat, lasting much longer than the really pleasant and quite lasting coffee and chocolate. There’s some bitterness too, in appropriate levels, but the saison yeast is very well hidden. As well as being warming on the palate, it’s also quite soft and silky, and full-bodied. As mentioned, the finish lasts for a long time, especially the chili burn. Although based on a dark saison, it certainly feels like a chili stout or chili porter. A beer I really loved, and I must say it’s a pity it’s a one-off. 121219

On tap @ the brewpub. A dark brown body with a moderate sized tan head. Aroma has light roasted caramel malt, dry fruit and a hint of hops and chocolate. Flavor is sweet, light roasted malt, caramel, chokolate, dry fruit, balanced bitterness and a hint of nuts. Fine body and a very nice aftertaste of pleasant sweet malt and light roasted caramel. Nice in combination with the barbeque or just alone as it is.
