On tap at the brewpub. A hazy orange beer with a small, dense off-white head. The aroma is mostly sweet oranges, with some pine cones. A bit simple, but pleasant. The flavor lacks a bit on bitterness I think, but it’s nice anyway. Malts, oranges and a touch of pine cones in the flavor. A bit thin on the palate, but with a nice carbonation level. Lots of oranges in the finish. Nice, but nothing extraordinary going on. 140412

On tap @ Christianssand Brygghus. Unclear orange body with a small off-white head. Nice, strong hoppy aroma with citric fruits and some caramel malt. Flavor is sweet and quite malty with some caramel, lots of citric fruit and strong bitterness with a hint of warming alcohol. Nice body with a long lasting sweet and bitter aftertaste. Almost perfectly balanced and the high alcohol is actually quite well hidden even if it feels a bit hot. Nice one.

Draught, served fresh (just arrived) and at a fine drinking temperature at Café Sara. Unclear ochre coloured body. Fair lacing from a decent white head. Perfumed, succulent citrus on the nose. Flavours of citrus shells and pine cross balanced by semi-sweet malt with a touch of coffee to it. Prolonged bittersweet finish. Well made, maybe a bit heavy to drink (Oslo 28.03.2014).

Put on tap just as we were visiting Café Sara, shared with Oda and Rebecca. Good amount of lacework on the glassware from a medium-sized brownish head. Jet black coloured body. Smell of creamy, vanilla-like chocolate, liquorice, and pine. Fine blended flavour character of vanilla chocolate, coffee beans and pine needles. Malt bitter tail. Velvety in the mouth. Well bodied. Enjoying stuff (Oslo 28.03.2014).

On tap @ the brewpub. Perfect pitch black body with a nice, stable, lacing, big, creamy mocha colored head. Aroma is strong and quite complex, dark malt, dark chocolate, coffee, dry fruit, cinnamon and bark. The flavor is very sweet, but has such a good balanced that it never feels sticky, just delicious. Extremely smooth and soft malt, almost like cream, dark malt, chocolate, coffee, dry fruit, spices like cinnamon and balanced bitterness. Alcohol is totally hidden; this is just like a complex dessert by itself. Full body and long lasting aftertaste. Great beer, need more.

On tap at the brewpub. Looking lovely in the glass, sexy actually, with a creamy finger-thick dark beige head leaving curtains. Black body. The aroma is equally lovely, tonka beans in a stout is such a good idea I think. Some coffee and mocha, as well as dark dried fruits. Hops are present too. Quite sweet flavor, but it’s mostly on the malty side, with the tonka beans playing the major part. Full body and a pleasant carbonation. Lasting finish with roasted malts, bitterness, coffee and tonka. I guess you have to love tonka beans to love this beer. I do. And having this after a nice main course you don’t need the dessert. 140321
