On tap at the brewpub. It pours an unclear body, dark orange-golden in color and with a creamy finger-thick, dense off-white head on top. The aroma has loads of lovely hoppyness, peaches and pine cones, orange peel and orange marmalade. Sweetish maltyness and a faint alcohol scent too. It’s full-bodied and quite warming, with a nice carbonation. Lots of hops in the flavor too, there’s sweetness going on but not too much in any way. Orange marmalade, pine cones and a lasting bitterness. Some sweetness in the end, but the bitterness wins easily. A nice one indeed, well worthy a celebration. A bit warming perhaps, but nothing annoying. 140321

On tap at the brewpub, from sampler tray. ABV 4.7%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, white head. Nice aroma of fruity and spicy / herbal hops. The flavour is fairly smooth and not too sweet, with decent hops throughout, moderate fruity notes. This is a session APA, not an IPA.

On tap at the brewpub, from sampler tray. ABV 5.4%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, low white head of poor retention. Sweetish aroma of cloves, coriander, cinnamon and cardamom, some banana and pronounced notes of cooked apples in the background. Sweetish flavour with the same elements, particularly cinnamon and cooked apples. Not as refreshing as a real Bavarian Hefeweizen.

On tap, from sampler tray, at the brewpub. ABV 5.5%, 25 IBU. Very pale yellow colour, moderate white head with acceptable retention. Moderate aroma, some fruit / jam and pilsener malt. Fairly refreshing flavour, more hopped than I feared, some less pleasant notes of stale jam in the background

On tap at Caf Sara, Oslo. Has a black colour with a red shine, and a light brown, medium, creamy head. Roasted aroma with chocolate, cinnamon and leather. The flavour has even more roasted malt with ash, hazel nuts and very dark chocolate. Has an incredibly smooth and silky mooth feel, and a medium to heavy bitterness. A well-roasted and tasteful porter, but a little light aroma compared to the flavour.

On tap at Caf Sara, Oslo. Pours a slightly hazy dark straw colour with a medium, compact and off-white head. Has a sweet and fruity aroma with apricot and grass. A bit light though. More grassy hops in the flavour with some spices, more grass, root vegetables and lemongrass. The aftertaste is dry. Has a slick mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. An interesting beer, but a light session IPA with a careful aroma. The taste is a little unbalanced between the malt and bitterness.

On tap @ Cafe Sara. Deep deep dark brown with a little reddish hue on the glass. The head is medium sized, light lacing and dark beige in color. Smells really chocolaty, lots of dark black malts, chocolate wrapper, a nice sweetness. Really creamy and comfortable on the mouth have with a above average creamy carbonation level. Soft chocolaty flavors as well. A bit papery with traces of both cardboard, wet grains and a little bit of coffee. Really gentle and lightdrinkable. Could drink lots of this. 14.10.2013
