Description
The Brewerie opened its doors back in 2006 as Erie’s lone brew pub and restaurant. Before that time, finding a craft beer downtown was a difficult proposition. Finding a local craft beer was an impossible one. So with beer in our blood {in the most literal and figurative sense} we set out to create beer that we liked, food that we enjoyed and a space that was unique and unconventional. And along the way, support local people & businesses that support us. That was our mission. Our vision was lofty and ambitious: To help revitalize downtown Erie & the historic Union Station... one pint at a time. Our philosophy was simple and “C-centric”: CRAFT a great product. CARE for our staff and patrons. And be COMMUNITY focused & driven. Years later, that’s all still at the heart of what we do. Brewing some good.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a copper color with a large fluffy-creamy orange-white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was malty, sweet and tangy with a bit of golden fruit and yeast. The flavor was yeasty, tangy and sweet with notes of honey, citrus and golden fruits. Medium length finish. Medium body and smooth. Solid.

Draft @ the brew pub, hazy gold color, no head to speak of. Nose is kind of odd. Kind of like baked bread in a yeasty kind of way. Flavor is more yeast and some light pale malts. Light body with an odd after taste. Not sour just something that I really have a hard time trying to guess. I guess this is some hybrid APA / golden ale. Again like all the others in the sample flight, drinkable.

Would be a nice brown ale if this 15 years ago. Standard in every way, medium body, with a nutty sweetness. Texture has a chewy, almost syrupy texture. The base of this beer is good but if the brewer wants to kick this up a notch; they could add a special ingredient like hazelnuts, cocoa nibs or maybe highly hop it. Right now it is drinkable but really is missing something.

Draft, Correct hazy gold color. Nose is wheat and citrus with orange hints. Flavor is citrus dominate, real fresh and crisp. Yeast is mellow with the citrus playing the main roll in flavors. Finish is clean. Medium to light body. I would order a whole pint and is a session hefeweizen that will not weigh you down with yeast. Solid job on this one!

Draft @ brewpub. Guess the color? Yep, it sure is amber. Nose is ok, toasted grain and caramel that is expected for the style. Taste could use some help, just standard caramel and super thin watery body. The roasted grain is drowned in the watery texture. Maybe doubling the malt or adding some type of light hop profile would improve this. Still drinkable, no big problems.

Draft at brew pub, seriously crazy hazy gold, small head. Aroma is similar to apple pie, mostly cinnamon with traces of apple and sour pears. Taste is completely spice, nutmeg and a huge blast cinnamon, really entirely to much. Really sweet finish that rides the line of cloying.

Pretty spicy nose. Gingerbread is huge. This beer is beyond spicy. Wow. So dry and fleeting. Really intense. Almost a peanut taste. The clove may be the strongest aspect and it’s intense.

Light brown. Chalky mouthfeel. Nose is sought toasty with pecans. Taste is dry and like flour. Maybe some sweetness. Pretty creamy.
