Draught at Shtern 1. Very dark brown color with a small beige head. Roasty aroma with saafron, nutmeg, a bit of coffee, light chocolate notes and light yeasty hints. Sweetish roasty flavor with some coffee, some spiciness, and light fruity notes. Finishes roastier and drier with more pronounced spiciness. Medium-bodied. Nice and not overly spicy.

Draught sample, small creamy light beige head, clear dark brown colour, aroma of anise, nutmeg and mace, light coffee and toasted bread, flavour of anise, sour bread, dried fruits and light coffee, strong sourness that becomes metalic and sharp, the spiciness is strong and very appealing at first but dies down quite quickly. Well made porter and quite easy to drink..

On tap at Stern Bar, Tel-Aviv. Tannish-amber with some haze. Thick white head. The aroma is quite yeasty, a little bit perfumey and with a slight pear ester. Spicy-hoppy accent with somewhat candyish malts. Perhaps a bit green and unrefined, but good to see Pavo trying this type of beer, as few Israeli brewers are.

Golden-bronze. Aroma is a little bit spicy and with an almost candyish sweetness. Light spicy hop character and mild bitterness. Ok beer.

Murky-looking amber with no head. Looked a bit better at the brewery on draught, but these notes are from the bottle. The aroma is mostly dull and metallic. Dull character, with no real hop. Just bland, with vaguely caramelly malts. Disappointed me both on tap and from the bottle - there are some issues that need to be worked out even without getting into the whole "no hops" thing. Later re-rates proved cleaner, but it’s just not a great beer.

Bright copper colour. Not much head. The aroma is mostly toasty and biscuity with a hint of hop. Slightly toasty, slightly tart on the palate. Clean biscuity notes as well. Only somewhat effective.

Draught at the brewpub. Dark brown. The aroma is mostly chocolate with some biscuity notes as well. Milky chocolate character, light bitterness. Decent stout with nice bitterness and a creamy texture.

Draught at the brewpub. Cloudy tan. Has a spicy, corianderish aroma but is fairly unrefined. Light body, with a spicy accent. Doesn’t come together especially well, but it’s perfectly drinkable.

Bottled, thanks Oakes & Beershine! Hazy copper colour, small head. Slight gooseberry aroma. Mid sweet with clean mouthfeel and light-medium body. Some caramel, not that much hop aroma. Mid-bitter finish. Simplistic, but not bad.

Draught at the brewpub, meduim beige head, deep brown colour, quite opaque, aroma of hay, mushrooms and roaste nuts, flavour has a touch of roasted malt and smoke, light boddied and a bit bland. This beer really lacks depth and character.
