Description
Mad Hatter Brewing Company was set up by Gaz and Sue in 2013, with just one grand in their back pockets, and a glorified home brew set up. The brewery has always punched above its weight, and was championed from the start by the brilliant Port St Beer House. They produce weird and wonderful beers alongside some classic pale ales, stouts and IPAs.

Opaque deep brown. Tall beige head. Perfect lacing. Aroma: toast, treacle, light roast, hops, fruity notes. Medium body. Taste: dry roast, coffee, robust citrusy hop. Medium to heavy bitterness. It is really superdry with an imperial stout. Quite an extreme hopping. Interesting. Still, my verdict: out of balance.

28/1/2019. Bottle from Honest Brew. Pours pale gold with a small lasting bubbly off-white head. Aroma of fruit, yeast, peppery spice, herbs and a little fragrant tea. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation. I liked this, lovely aroma especially. Bit gassy to finish though.

330ml bottle. Hazy, medium brown colour with huge, frothy, moderately lasting slightly lacing, dirty off-white head. Nutty malty, slightly bretty, funky and spicy aroma, hints of Hubba Bubba bubblegum, cinnamon, dusty yeasty overtones. Taste is slightly dry, tart-ish, spicy, sweet-ish nuttily malty basis, notes of cinnamon, a touch of morello. A bit weird.
