33cl, lot 12042, BB 08-2013.

Label mentions it being brewed in Brakel, which means De Graal. Full name is Belle & Forte Amber Beige head, slowly dwindling over fully hazy dark amber-brown beer. Sharpish spicy nose: clove (even eugenol), liquorice, cinnamon, but also American hops. Pretty imposing aroma, not necessarily inviting. Again sharp bitterish-spicy flavour; typical spiceoils (eugenol, cinnamonoil, allspice, etc.) Traces of hop, malts present. Feels overcarbonated, very fizzy. Alcohol- and spicesburn. Quite slick, well bodied. I’d qualified this as a typical spiced Christmas warmer. That the blurb calls it "thirstquenching" is something of a hooter. And Sas van Gent - the new francophone enclave in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen?

20/V/2012 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: VIII/13 (2012-530)
Bit cloudy red brown beer, big aery beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: band-aid, ripe to overripe fruits, some raisins. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: bit malty, dried fruits, bitter hops, some mocha, bit herbal, little sugary, overripe fruits. Aftertaste: pretty bitter, hoppy, alcohol warming the throat, herbal, overripe banana. Not my cup of tea. Didn't get any of the American hops.
