Bottle picked up from Appel Getränke, Moosburg, consumed at home Sunday 20th June 2021 after a lovely weekend with Ele, Vangelis and the boys about to cook Asparagus Lasagna. Pours dark gold to light amber with a white head, fine bubbles, off-white lacing. A little metallic touch, sweetness but then quite dry, some honey sweetness, maltiness, not so much hoppiness. Ok.

Deep gold with a frothy, white head. Very little aroma: a hint of mixed grains and caramel. Taste is mildly sweet up front, rapidly turning mildly bitter and dryer. Finishes the same with grainy notes and a hint of booze. Medium bodied, balanced carbonation. Nice chewiness. A mixed bag but drinkable.

Very crisp, perfectly clear golden coloured body with a large, but very fast-dying pure white head that fades and doesn't leave anything on top or even on the sides. Aroma of light metal, a dash of apricots and peaches, some very biscuity and buttery malts with a dry profile and a light dose of metal with the slightest bit of hops noticeable of a Saaz profile. Light-bodied; Very crisp maltiness shows first that brings out the biscuity and slightly metallic notes, but then some apple juice and light fruitiness cuts through and provides a light sweetness to balance out the deep malts. Aftertaste is slightly dry, but floral and showing some light apple and pear fruity flavours that balance out the deeper and dry biscuity, malt notes that show stronger than anything else. Overall, a decent and relatively subdued helles with a pungent grassiness and strong biscuity malt characteristic with only a tiny dose of metallic bitterness and no real hops or complexity from this at all. I sampled this 50 cL can, as Day #19's can from the 2020 Costco Advent Calendar, purchased from Costco in Arlington(Pentagon City), Virginia and sampled in my hotel room here in New York, New York on 19-December-2020.

Pint can, 12/19/20, #19 from the Costco advent calendar. Clear gold medium white head, good retention. Not much of an aroma. Maybe its the glass (stein). What is there is pale and bready. Taste is white bread, lemon, grass. Medium bodied, crisp, bright. Pretty nice.

500 ml can purchased as part of the 2020 Costco Advent Calendar at the Costco in Overland Park, Kansas. Exp 2022/05 printed on the bottom of the can. The pour is a clear golden yellow with a foamy two inch white head that leaves behind pretty lace. The aroma is cereal grain, dry floral and a bit of fruit sweetness. The taste is the floral, cereal grain, apple fruit sweetness and more grain to the finish. The palate is light to medium bodied, soft carbonation and the grain and fruit sweet aftertaste. Solid Helles.

Can, 0.50l. Aroma is grainy, vegetably, papery and slightly skunky. Pours clear straw color with medium sized soapy white head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts medium sweet grainy and biscuity, following is grassy, herbal and mild citrusy, mouthfeel is crisp and rather dry, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium body, slick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Not bad, but without any surpluses...
