Description
Il Birrificio Montegioco prende il nome dall’omonimo paese della Val Grue, a pochi chilometri da Tortona, antica terra di confine tra Piemonte, Liguria, Lombardia ed Emilia Romagna. L’avventura comincia nella primavera del 2005 quando un vecchio magazzino viene trasformato in un moderno microbirrificio.
Riccardo Franzosi è l’artefice di tutto questo, la passione per la birra lo ha spinto a iniziare come homebrewer per puro piacere personale ed ha successivamente scelto di trasformare questa passione in un vero e proprio lavoro.

Draught @ Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà. Aroma is unusual with sweet buttery toffee and fruits. Flavour has toffee candy, some butter and fruits. Finishes with menthol. Something in common with English strong ales.

Aroma has apricot, fruity hops and hayish notes. Also minerals and marmalade. Flavour has fruity hops, orange marmalade, some grapefruit and minerals. Hoppy, fruity, juicy and balanced.

At a tasting, thanks, small bubbly head, very cloudy brown, color, not too nice, aroma of dried figs and clove with alcohol other spices and coke coming through later, flavor is a melange of dried fuits and caramel. Good but not too exciting.

Bottle at Lueken’s Liquors during the RBWG 2015 bus tour. Hazy amber with off-white head. Aromas of malt, citrus, caramel. Tastes of booze, malt, caramel. Medium body with a dry finish.

Bottle @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Hazy brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and light balsamico. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate acidic. Dry and moderate acidic finish. 250215

Clear dark golden with a medium sized white head, good lacing. Aroma of malts and berries. Flavors of berries and woody

Bottle - Rich Berry and syrupy sweetness. Cloudy copper with a decent beige head. Big malty and light rotten fruits, very nice and rich.

Bottle during RBWG, pours a cloudy brown with small beige head. The aroma is bready malt and raisin. Medium mouth with a strong dark fruit, bready malt, decent.
