Description

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks Yoav. Hazy yellowish pale gold. Lovely sourish aroma, funky, fruity and vinous with oak and a vinegar note. Sourish flavor, vinous, somewhat funky, with nice fruitiness and oak. Medium-bodied.

On tap at Bir & Fud. The version I tried was 10% and made with cranberries I was told. A reddish amber wuth a bready spicy belgian nose + tart cranberries - think cranberry cookies. Medium bodied with a zesty mouthfeel. The taste is bready sweet spice + cranberry. Wonderful.

Super murky rust coloured with a decent head of foam, some lacing.

The smell starts off with a malty port like aroma that goes a bitter trail as well. Sniffing for the blueberries. .I don’t get any.

The taste follows suit with the smell, the only difference being that the finish returns to a more sweet malty side and there’s a slight suggestion of something fruity. By golly, I think I have found the wee bit of blueberries after all.

There is no visible dating on the bottle so I have no idea how old this is. Taking a wild guess, this isn’t fresh. No revisits for me.

I had the 2012 version but it seems to ba an alternate of this one. On tap at Open Baladin. Carsent ’12 montegioco 3% it pours a crystal clear orange copper color. The nose is tart, mentholated rub & sherry. Med-full bodied with a silky mouthfeel that made me do a double take. The taste is sour as hell it reminds me of those drinking vinegars with citrus & maybe some ash-method notes. This spontaneously fermented beer is an acidic mind bender. The main takeaway for me is the incredible amount of flavor and body in this low ABV beer. The pour was too huge though, to the lip of the glass is a lot of sour!
