Description
In 1564 for the first time a brewery is mentioned in Svijany. In the following years the brewery was owned by different families. In 1912 it was bought by brewer Antonín Kratochvíle. The Kratochvíle family operated the brewery till 1939. After the war the brewery was confiscated and later nationalized. in 1990 the state enterprise Vratislavice nad Nisou was created, which included Svijany Brewery. In 1998 the company Pivovar Svijany was created, which became the new owner of the brewery. In 2005, it was transformed into a joint-stock company. Gradually Svijany became the strongest regional brand with national importance. The popularity of the brewery is increasing and it is gradually being developed into one of the largest independent breweries in the Czech Republic.
Svijany Brewery is wholly Czech owned and remains one of the last in ‚domestic‘ hands.

Bottle at home. Pours deep brown with beige head. Light chocolate, mild sweet malts, toffee, faint metallic touch, surprisingly creamy body.

Bottle at home. Decent svetly with heavier-than-average body. Nothing extraordinary, but quite well balanced.

My 600th rating, yay. Bottle, pours deep, clear golden with thin head. Grass, hay, and hops in aroma. Strong, bitter taste, with long finish. Light to medium bodied, lively carbonated, easily drinkable. Nice example of its style.

Deep, clear golden pour, white head. Nose is noble hoppy, somewhat malty. Taste is pleasant bittersweet, with long bitterish finish. Light bodied with average carbonation. Tasty.

Atlag kis tizeske, nagyon konnyu, mar-mar vizes. Ha nem lenne ilyen femes az illat es a korty, egesz korrekt lenne.

Bottled. It would be a decent, bitter enough pilsner, but the slight DMS ruins it for me a bit. Drinkable nevertheless.

Straight from the bottle. Decent, bitterish taste that lasts relatively long. Good one.

On tap @ Neked Csak Dezso. Pleasant pilsner with prominent flowery-bitter hoppy notes. Nice one.
