30 August 2025. At 7de Bier van Olier (Sijsele). Cheers to Anke, mom & dad!
Chestnut, almond, fondant, coffee bean, vague whisky. Sweetish brambleberry, almond, chestnut, bitter coffee. Earthy hops, charred wood, coffee and warming whisky alcohol. Medium body, average carbonation. The whisky is certainly not overpowering the base beer here which is solidly bitter and roasty. Reminds me a bit of Mareklop's Nonnebil (similarly carrying a surprisingly subtle adjunct flavour).

T: sweet date & fig, toffee, cookie, sugared tea.
F: herbal hops, dried fruits, warming liqueur-like alcohol.

Not too complex, just quite yummy.

I was able to obtain a 33 cl bottle from Belgian Happiness late last year. My Great Heights snifter is being used tonight for the pour. With that done, I see a dark cola-colored liquid topped by a lasting head of eggshell brown foam. A nice nose with sweet dark fruit, candy and hay. A drink delivers less sweetness than the scent promises, but is good in any case. Whole grain bread, figs, prunes, leather, a small bit of toffee and sorghum. I feel a creamy sensation mouth-wise, also nice. This beer is obviously bottle conditioned, something I like. A solid, traditional quad, a good tasting.

Hazy blond colour, white foam. Rather sweet tripel, fruity and malty. Balanced. Ok.

Many thanks to Finn for sharing a 330ml bottle of this one. Nice in the glass with a deep rosewood body, remaining fawn-coloured head and crocheted lacing. Inviting aromas of dark fruity caramel. Mixed taste profile of raisin, prunes and bread, impression of stewed fruits. Mid-dry rounded finish of dark fruit and caramel. Well bodied. Pleasant. (Tromsø 04.03.2020).

Iets van cookie-smaak? Zoet, broodachtig.
