Taster at the brewpub. Pale, clear, yellow, with a small, fizzy, white head. The nose is straight green chili and jalapenos, with some hay and simple malts. Sweet and sugary, with a lot of heat that overwhelms anything else that might be going on. Light body, with an acidic, thin mouthfeel. This is a simple gimmick, and if hot is what you want, you'll get it. I'd almost rather drink from the pepper sauce bottle on the table. I'm glad this was my last taste here.

Taster at the brewpub. Pours brown, nearly black, with a big, velvety, beige head. The nose is butter toffee, bitter chocolate, orange, and dust. Sweet and very malty. Light to medium body, with a grainy, malty mouthfeel. This is a pretty mild, easy brown ale.

Taster at the brewpub. Pours brown, nearly black, with a small, tan head. The nose is cherry, brown bread, toffee, and maple syrup. Sweet, without much bitterness. Light to medium body, with a sticky palate. Fun, malty, and easy.

Taster on cask at the brewpub. Pours a clear, dark, copper color, with a small, creamy head. The aroma is caramel, pine, light earth, toast, and oak. Sweet and malty, with a mellow, hoppy bitterness. Light to medium body, with a flat, smooth, and silky mouthfeel. Nice, mild, English-style IPA.

Taster at the brewpub. Clear, yellow color, with a medium, white head. The nose is honey, rosewater, and hay. Sweet, with just a bit of bitterness. Very light body, with a crisp, clean finish. This is a refreshing, simple, and true to style kolsch. Nice.

It poured a reddish amber with about a 1 finger head of foam. Good head retention and some nice lacing.
The smell had notes of bitterness, honey, caramel, and a touch of yeast.
The taste has some fruit(cherry?), caramel, honey, grain, spice, and a hint of candy sugar. I found the finish to be very bitter...like I was biting into a slice of grapefruit. There's some harshness on the tongue and definitely some warming from the alcohol.
Overall, I wasn't that impressed with Coopersmith's latest offering but maybe you'd like it. Give a try, I say.

Hand drawn 10oz mug was a pitch black with a 1 finger head of foam that had good head retention.
The smell was of roasted malt and bourbon. Also had some light notes of coffee.
The taste had notes of chocolate followed by an ever increasing taste of bourbon. Light notes of roasted malt and coffee there as well.
Thick body but it was ever so creamy and the alcohol was more noticeable than I would have liked it as it was quite warming after the swallow.
I think the bourbon presence was a little over done here but it was still a pleasurable brew to drink. I'd have it again.

From May 2008
From my notes of April 19, 2008
It poured a near pitch black with some hues of red and a tan head of foam that was about 1 finger deep.
The smell was of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Pretty nice.
First sip revealed flavours of coffee and roasted malt and further sips gave me some chocolate...None of the flavours are in your face, just smooth, balanced, and easy drinking. It finishes with a touch of sweetness and some bitterness from the coffee.
Medium mouthfeel here and overall, this is just a nice example of the style that won't overwhelm you taste wise, it's nice and it's refreshing. Good brew.
