Description
For nearly twenty five years, our mission here at Smuttynose has remained the same: to brew the best beer we can in a way we can be proud of. That includes honoring New England’s rich beermaking history, respecting our environment, and playing an active role in our community.
We value creativity, quality, authenticity and sustainability, but it really boils down to making great beers to enjoy with friends and family. We hope you love drinking our beers as much as we love brewing them. Cheers!

Available in May? Not in Toronto, we've got it now! Light hay colour, kind of hazy; lightly earthy, hoppy nose (spalt?); a little bit acidic, light carbo for the style; dryish finish. It's a tasty drop, but not authentic by any means.

Brown colour with some orange hints; nutty, earthy, malty, woody aroma; palate is lighter, bringing nuts, smooth caramelly maltiness, chocolate; slightly tangy finish.

New rating: On tap at Portsmouth Brewing. Bright golden colour with a malt-accented nose. Slight spiciness but more malt as well. Rounded, full, malty character is very clean and well-balanced.[BR][BR]Old rating: You have to love Smokeless Joe for bringing in anything he can get his hands on, including the Smutty range. Portsmouth Lager has a caramel-like colour, a touch of smoke, dried peaches and white grapes in the nose a rich sweetness in the caramelly malt palate. 7 3 6 3 13 is equal to 3.2

Americna pale? This is all English, folks. Orangey dark red hue; earthy malts, what I believe to be fuggles, bitter chocolate, plums and maybe a touch of peat on the nose; medium body; earthy palate, bark-like flavours, herbal bitterness, dark unsweetened chocolate; finishes bittersweet.

Nice copper color. Thin head. Excellent citrusy spicy aroma. Crisp flavor - plenty of nice hop flavor and big round malty mouthfeel. Excellent balance.

Interestingly, my sample was also badly contaminated with lactobacillis. Badly soured. Other: nice dark, almost black color. Beneath the souring lurked what seemed to be a pretty good roasty porter.
