Description
In Fall ’09, we finally received our official brewer’s license from the federal government. Just 2 months later, we attended our very first festival: Strange Brewfest in Port Townsend. Later that Spring, we had the honor of being the Hometown Brewery Representative for the Father’s Day Beer Festival at St. Edward State Park; upon arrival we were welcomed by the Mayor himself.

Our first year of production, we produced just about 10 barrels of beer. Every year since then, our production has about quadrupled, as we continue to add new recipes to our lineup.

Draft pour pint at the 192 Lake Trail Taproom. Clean and bright golden orange pour, high carb, heavy foam cap, sticky lacing. Outdoor drinking, and other dumb stuff! A slight dank hop nose, though it's all aroma. Hops are absent in the taste for me. Smooth, cool, and slightly sweet bready malts. Touches of caramel. All blend nicely. It's a refreshing summer pale for sure. A light bitterness late, and that's about all the hop I get here. A flavorful light brew to pair well with the Seattle sun. Solid brew from these guys.

I was excited to see 192 venture into the imperial world with this IPA. The OG local of mine. Intriguing from the start. Beautiful clean copper, amber appearance. Sticky foam head and lacing. Aroma is an intense, metallic, rich malt. Sharp. A bit harsh, but it's an imperial, so I'm a bit forgiving. Taste is sharp, metallic, and boiled vegetable hops up front. Lingering bitterness, which is heavy and harsh. Vegetables creep back. I love this brewpub, but hate how disappointed I was with this brew. A sipper, and some decent qualities, but it just disagreed with my taste.

Draft pour pint at the 192 Lake Trail Taproom. I feel like it's been ages since my last new 192 rate. Probably the single version of the Wally Hop was my last. Right on! A darker reddish orange pour, cloudy. Really malty imperial, but not boozy or harsh. Touches on caramel. A little on the sweet side. Overall an easy drinking imperial here. Surrpised at how this turned out for some reason. I liked the single version. No reason the double would be bad. Liked this one.

Draft pour pint at the 192 Lake Trail Taproom. A cloudy reddish copper pour, with basically no head to it. Malt centered nose, leaning to the sweet side. Hinted metallic. Flavor is less sweet than expected. Nutty constant. Decent amount of flavor going on here. Very cool front, with a bit of a warming finish. I feel like it's hard to make a truly unique Oktoberfest. This one wasn't anything new or different, but it's tasty.

Draft pour pint at the 192 Brewing new and improved lake trail beer garden. They sure do have an incredible space here to enjoy a beer out in the sun. This hefe might be the best bet they have ever brewed, in my opinion. It is solid in the refreshment category. Pale golden pour with a thin fizz head. Soft soapy wheat aroma. Cok wheat constant, a little soapy as well, but not offensive. This was a pleasant surprise for me. Very refreshing for a style I typically avoid. Great paired with the heat. I’d take this over the big market American Hefes for sure.

Draft pour at Winter Beer Fest. Thanks Derek! Hazy golden pour with a patchy head. What a crazy, unique beer this is. Huge rum flavor and aroma constants that fill and cover up all other beer qualities here, but remains drinkable. Candy, but quite boozy. Only one thing to really talk about with this one. Rum Rum Rum. Interesting.

Draft 10 oz pour at 192. A hazy golden orange pour with a thin, oily head. Some IPAs less me to believe that IBU doesn’t mean anything at all. Low in IBU, but man, does this drink bitter. A balanced aroma of grain and slightly skunky hops. Flavor is hop bitters, slightly sweet malt, and a harsh bitterness lingering. Good qualities with this beer in each sip, but has its counterpart with each. Pretty much matched my expectation of an IPA from here. The stronger their beer is, the less it seems to appeal to me. A standard, surprisingly bitter IPA, that I thought was just okay, but I can’t imagine this is the last time I drink it.

Draft at brewery. This is the definition of amateur commercial brewing. Syrupy, malty, tea, and garbage. I really do feel that my home brew is better or at least more interesting.

Apparently, I have a 10oz glass. It’s a very malty beer. It’s not a flavor I am enjoying, it’s a bit garbagey malts. Green, vegetable poor hoppiness. I just don’t get it, I’m not sure how beer tastes like this without obvious flaws.

Draft pour pint at the 192 Lake Trail Taproom. It’s always interesting when an accident turns into life, like the case for this beer. Oily clear golden color with a patchy fizz head. Very soft apple like aroma. Cool flavor with apple, honey, and a grainy background. Semi dry grain finish. It seems they are a bit surprised people are enjoying this, but at the same time. I don’t see why they would see it if they were. Another light, refreshing beer that reminds me that warm weather and baseball season is right around the corner. Fast from perfect, but I enjoyed this.
