Description
The brewery Slaghmuylder was founded in 1860 by Emmanuel Slaghmuylder. Around the turn of the century his son Ernest took over the company. He married Marie Van Roy, daughter of a brewer family of Wieze. His three sons opened a new brewery in 1926 which could start immediately with the new brewing process for lager beer. During the war of 1940-1945 brewing restarted for high-fermentation ales. It is only in1958 that the brewery started again with the production of low-fermentation beers. In the mid sixties the three brothers were succeeded by their sons. From 1979 on, the three nephews started brewing the Witkap Pater beers on request of brewery "De Drie Linden" from Brasschaat. In 1981 the Witkap Pater brand was officially taken over by Slaghmuylder. Beginning of theeighties the brewery was equipped with separate fermentation and layering cellars for both high and low fermentation beers. Brewery Slaghmuylder remains a unique family company that builds on a rich tradition.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a hazy, orange with an off-white head. Unclean, fruity aroma. Light-bodied, light notes of caramel and fruit with an edge of metal. Fairly dry finish with some bitterness. Not exactly thrilling. 200507

Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head, which leaves A LOT of lace. Aroma is very much American hops, thought of an American Pale Ale when I took the nose samlple of this one (yes, I poured my nose too deep...). Flavour is yeast, some hops and slight caramel malts. Very pleasantly balanced, but at the sametime very refreshing.

Bottled. An unclear orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of fruit, medium notes of yeast and lighter notes of spices - especially coriander. The flavor is sweet malty and rather spicy again coriander being strongest, but also with quite strong notes of herbs, leading to a dry finish.

Bottle: Poured a golden color with fizzy bubbly head. The aroma is citrus and fruit. Taste was nice floral flavor but also had bite of citrus to make it complex.

Tap, in de Wildeman. Clear golden color, medium white head. Aroma of some hop and grain. Quite bitter taste, bit malty and grainy. Bitterness remains in the palate. Nice starter, but nothing special.
