Description
The brewery Slaghmuylder was founded in 1860 by Emmanuel Slaghmuylder. Around the turn of the century his son Ernest took over the company. He married Marie Van Roy, daughter of a brewer family of Wieze. His three sons opened a new brewery in 1926 which could start immediately with the new brewing process for lager beer. During the war of 1940-1945 brewing restarted for high-fermentation ales. It is only in1958 that the brewery started again with the production of low-fermentation beers. In the mid sixties the three brothers were succeeded by their sons. From 1979 on, the three nephews started brewing the Witkap Pater beers on request of brewery "De Drie Linden" from Brasschaat. In 1981 the Witkap Pater brand was officially taken over by Slaghmuylder. Beginning of theeighties the brewery was equipped with separate fermentation and layering cellars for both high and low fermentation beers. Brewery Slaghmuylder remains a unique family company that builds on a rich tradition.

Cloudy golden orange color, big white rocky head. Aroma is very spicy, coriander and hint of ginger, bit grainy and some citrus. Taste is moderately sweet and bitter. Palate is a bit dry and a bit sticky. Very nice Tripel.

No head; yellow-golden beer, no carbonation, doesn’t look quite like beer. Very grainy, malty, even chaff nose. Sweet honeyish grain, again chaff-like, summer-type beer. For a Kerst! Slightly slick, but light. Somewhat denser texture. For a Pilsner, its more than OK. Under its X-mas banner, it falls a bit short. Retasted draught, unfiltered 2006. Very nice, fresh European hops nose, must have been used in serious amounts 7/10Very short hopsshock, followed by sweet pale malts, getting a grapey taste. This is the freshest and the best, as well the bitterest I’ve ever had a Slag beer, and it is worth more 6/10 / 3/5 / 14/20

Most difficult name for a beer i’ve ever seen. The beer was quite nice though: cloudy golden color, medium head. Aroma is spicy and yeasty, quite fruity. Taste has a sour fruity note, but predominantly yeasty and spicy. Nicely balanced.

Pleasant clove and yeast aroma in this white beer (hazy creamcorn yellow with thick white head.). Dry and hoppy for a wit, with a phenolic end and metallic overtones...a bit too harsh for pleasant drinking...

Blond color; creamy head. Flowery aroma, with some hops. Good balance of malt and hop; smooth, quite spicy, most of all the late mouthfeel is enjoyable, with a soft maltiness and a quite aromatic hopping.

A yellow beer with no head. The aroma is sweet and sour (probably from brewing cereal). The flavor is also sweet and sour but with a rather hoppy end with some oily hints, but on a sour corn background. The body is thin.
