Bomber from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Fred gets a lot of good beers! Pours a dark ruddy/brown copper with a slight foamy beige head. Strong grapefruit rind aroma - but itโ€™s smooth. Full bodied. Flavor is grapefruit rind, arguably resin, and some fairly roasted malt. But itโ€™s all about the hops here. This stuff is stuffed with hops. Enough to put on a burn. Gotta be in the top 10 of DIPAs. The hop bitter/burn just goes on and on.

Had this at the 2011 Pittsburgh Ratebeer Christmas Eve Eve Tasting. Big thanks to mtoast for this sample of a beer. Cloudy, perhaps looks like a hefe. Aroma is a little like boiled viggie water mixed with wet horse. Initially I dedect a small amount of tomato in the flavor and possibly basil. Has some co2 in there but not lots. Tast eventiually morphs into a farmy thing. Fer sure is not coming across as more than 6% so I guess its hiding the alky contnet well. This brew is unique and fairly mild for a strong ale. Finish is quite refined and easy to get along with. Big thanks to Hart for the chance to try this rare beer! I found it interesting.

Sampled with the Madison crew. Tropical mango, island fruit aroma. Mellow mouthfeel, lots of tropical flavor. Simcoe goodness, lots of flavor, but not so bitter. Soapy, lacy head. Quite enjoyable. Tastes a little faded. but still exceptional. Remarkably balanced and smooth.

This brew pours a clear orange color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet malt and spices. Medium body with an array of spices that donโ€™t quite equal pumpkin. Lots of clove, cinnamon and honey along with a bready malt base. The finish is sweetly spiced with a short malt aftertaste. Fairly average all around.

On tap at Provisions. Very proud of myself that I guessed the hops tasting this blind. That aside, pours with a clear golden orange body with a white head that leaves tons of lace sticking all over the glass. Aroma are very dank and a bit catty, pungent, ripe fruit and clearly Centennial. Aromas are very fresh and almost all hops. Vibrant, and well crafted (even if you donโ€™t necessarily love the hops used). Flavors are bitter, grassy, orange, grapefruit and tell tale Sorachi Ace (read: pinesol and dill). Solid bitterness that lasts throughout. Medium bubbles. Solid IPA. Hop combo is a bit pungent and strange, but it is dry (minimal crystal), vibrant, juicy, dry hopped and fresh: which adds up to at least a decent IPA.

bottle pours thick black with a medium brown head that lasts the length of the glass. Aroma is big roast, some char and smoke as well. Flavor is big roast and coffee, oh boy is the coffee awesome in this stuff. Bitter espresso and bakers chocolate with hints of peppers in a tingly finish with just a touch of heat. Damn I wish I had more.

Bottle thanks to Peter! Pours black. Light tan head. Nose/taste of burnt coffee, mocha, toasted black malts and very light chipotle peppers. Body is thin and weak. Slightly dry bitter chocolate finish. Peppers are barely noticeable in the background.

Tap. Pours with a black body and a large, long lasting tan head. Aromas are ashy and roasty, caramel and vanilla. Flavors are hoppy, roasty, ash and some crayon. Light chocolate. Dry and a bit ashy. The bourbon wasnโ€™t very apparent.
