Description
It all started in 1986. Sure, many things have changed since the early days of Harpoon, but much has stayed the same. We still love brewing beer and enjoying it with friends.

In July 2014, Harpoon became an employee owned company, with 48% of the company given to employees through the establishment of an ESOP. An E-what? ESOP stands for Employee Stock Ownership Plan. It is a mechanism by which a company contributes to its employees’ retirement by allocating shares to them which it repurchases…..yadda, yadda, yadda… Here’s what it means: we are employee owned, we are an independent craft brewer, and you bet we’re damn proud of it.

In 2024, Harpoon and Smuttynose merged, forming Barrel One Collective.

Hazy golden with a large foamy yellow-white head. Tangy and sweet with sugar, tropical fruit and yeast. Long finish. Moderately full bodied.

Halmgul lätt grumlad vätska med ett vitt skumlock. Citrus och kryddor i aromen. Citrus, apelsin och en riktigt nedskruvad kryddning i smaken. Tunn på gränsen till blaskig.

Pours a hazy amber from a can. Weird pine and honey aroma works a little better in the mouth, but not what I’m expecting in terms of a hazy ipa. Okay beer.

Bottle from the Packie. Pours a solid black color with a huge frothy tan head that shows great retention. Spicy nutmeg overwhelms the aroma and flavor. Hints of coconut and alcohol warming but that spice just detracts. Maybe I got a bad bottle?

Hay, white pepper, lemongrass nose. Hazy golden, thin head. Bread, lemongrass, cheerios, dough, hominy. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Way more complexity than I expected, elements of kolsch, cream ale, and American wheat in one light lager.
