About
Christian Bourganel, entrepreneur and innovator, lover of beer and Ardèche, was considering a solution to promote these two elements. After a few months of reflection and work with the IFBM (Institut Français de Brasserie et Malterie) in Nancy, the fruit beers of the Ardèche were born in 1997, initially brewed by the Brasserie Castelain, but the stated objective was the creation of a micro-brewery in Ardèche.
The installation of the brewery in Vals les Bains is done in 2000 and on June 1, 2000, the Brasserie Bourganel offered its first Ardèche brew to local customers. Faced with the success of these beers, the Bourganel Brewery acquired new, more efficient equipment in 2004, and since then, each year, expansions have been carried out. In February 2006, the brewing room was changed and fermentation and aging tanks were added to increase the production capacity to 4,000 hectoliters per year.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Clear golden, minimal head - looks dull. Evident nougat aroma. Sweet with clean hard mouthfeel. Artificial flavour of nougat and vegetables. Some bitter almond in an empty finish.

Amber color. Light aroma of blueberries and glue. No special flavor, poor fruits too, at the end it’s bitter in an unpleasant way. I can’t like it.

Amber color; poor head. Light aroma of chestnuts, acceptable. Weak mouthfeel, with a light flavor, mix of caramel and vanilla-chestnuts, not what you would like in a beer. Not horrible, but useless as a beer.

(Bottle 33 cl) 6% ABV in my version. Deep copper coloured with a discreet head. Very unusual chestnut flavours. Spicy, dry and lightly sweet. Subdued bitterness. Absolutely drinkable albeit quite odd. 210501

Bottled. Clear dark amber. Blueberry jam dominates from aroma to finish. The maltiness is hard and clean, and there is notes of winegum. Well balanced, but too clean.

Bottled. Clear amber. Neutral aroma. Obvious flavour of vanilla and chestnut marmalade. Clean, hard mouthfeel. Nutty finish. A not too special beer that gains a lot from an interesting and well balanced flavouring.
