Chelmsford Summer Beer Fest. Cask. Clear gold beer, small white head. Light palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Light grainy malts, a whisper of sulphur. Smooth floral finish. The best thing to say about this beer is it’s not the dogs dinner that so many cask lagers are, but it is still not great.

Cask @ Barum Top Inn, Halifax. Golden with a small creamy head. Hoppy as you might expect, with a lingering dryness in its aftertaste. But there is a fruitiness to be found in the ale. Crisp and a few malts evident after a while.
