The creamy head on its very dark appearance makes this relatively standard but tasty porter very good looking. The enjoyment is best in its mildly chocolatey subtly roasted aftertaste.

Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Mostly clear gold. A touch malty, hint of biscuit, some citric notes, tangy, drying grassy finish. Medium bodied, slightly chewy. OK.

Skipton Beer Festival 2024. Clear golden in colour. Steady sessionable hoppy brew, so easy enough drinking. Some sweetness in aroma, which is just about more stated than in its taste.

Cask at Egham Easter 24. Aroma is certainly juicy, pulpy. Hazy-opaque light gold. Frothy foamy white head. Light-medium bitter. Citrus edge before developing a sweet blood orange streak. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Easy drinking.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours almost black with a small foamy cream head. There’s roast malts and lactose in the aroma. Lactose prominent again in the mouth where it is slightly sweet, smooth and creamy. Plus roasted malts and traces of vanilla. Some traces of dark fruits come through later. This is a decent mainstream porter.

[May 2022] Deep ruby with a creamy off-white head. This isn’t the sweetest milk stout ever, plenty of coffee bitterness and a slightly sweet, nutty aroma, some creaminess with hints of chocolate in the bitter finish
