Cask-conditioned at the Lime Kiln, Bristol 17/10/2022. Dark brown in colour, with reddish undertones and a frothy, beige, head. Leafy hops, some slight tart plum fruits, hint of spice, touch of berry sweetness, before a moderately bitter finish. Very enjoyable.

Handpull cask at the Nags Head, Great Malvern. Light to mid-gold and clear. A small foamy white head, leaving lots of lacing. Grassy aroma, some handsome, pleasant but with little of the promised bergamot. I get more bergamot in the taste: it's sweet at first but then visited by balancing bitter hops. Light refreshing body, soft carbonation. It doesn't quite come together but isn't a bad drink all in all.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford – as “Settle Nine Standards”. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. There’s malts, biscuits and toast in the aroma, plus hints of dark fruits. In the mouth it is fruity with malts and toffee to the fore initially. After a while it becomes somewhat bitter with chestnuts and a hint of ash. Finish is dry and slightly smoky. This is decent.

Cask ale, half-pint at Chesterfield Arms. Black in the glass, stable off-white head, dotted spots on the glassware. Appealing smell of chocolate malts, mid-sweet and slightly roasted. Chocolate sweetness to the flavour character followed by a coffee note towards the ending. Easy to drink. Just alright. (Chesterfield 08.07.2022).

Half-pint, cask ale at Little Ale House. Stable pearl white head, dark golden body, clear. Fair lacing. Smell of mid-sweet malts and herbal hops. Blended taste of earthy malts, ripe fruit, and a semi-sweet malty base. Mid dry malt-fruity endnotes. Soft on the swallow. Pretty fair. (Harrogate 07.07.2022).
