About
Blue Moon is known for its Belgian-Style Wheat Ale which was created in 1995 by Keith Villa, a brewer at the Sandlot Brewery at Coors Field, Denver. It was originally brewed in the Coors brewery in Golden, Colorado. In the summer of 2016 a new state-of-the-art brewery was opened in Denver’s RiNo District. Since then we have been brewing fan favorites (old and new), and experimenting with new and unique ingredients on our pilot brewing system.

Taster - side by side with the base beer - hazy amber - nose of oak and bright tropical fruit - flavor is bright fruitiness up front, followed by toasty, mellow oak tones, then moderate but not boozy whiskey - the whiskey flavor definitel washes out the base beer, making the finish taste a bit like watered-down whiskey, which starts to get unenjoyable after a while - finishes weak.

10 ounce at the RiNo brewery - lightly hazy amber - nose of cherry, raisin, dark bread - flavor is sweet, bready, spicy, a bit of sherry - moderate alcohol - it’s decent.

Food Lion bottle. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is mango, skunk, somewhat artificial and perfumey, but not bad. Flavor is mango, canned mango, perhaps, as it’s somewhat sweet and sugary, wheat (somewhat dirty and sour). Um... I’m not sold but I’m also not turned off.

Sample at Collaboration Fest on 03/25/2017. Hazy golden color with a medium white head that recedes gradually to a film. Sticky strings of lacing. Aroma of floral hops, tropical fruit and malt. Medium body with flavors of fruity hops, pine and bready malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a floral hop and fruit aftertaste. Above average overall.

From old tasting notes. Deep Amber orange color. Bubbly beige head. Sweet berry aroma. Tangy fruit malt flavor is balanced by an assertive, crisp malt/hop character.

From old tasting notes. Bright copper color. Bubbly beige head. Fragrant pumpkin malt aroma. Interesting fruity malt flavor is complex and flavorful. Notes of pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon are readily present. Spicy hop finish.

12 oz bottle from the winter variety pack. Expires 11 days from now. Aroma is caramel, cocoa (like chocolate milk), a hint of cloying malt. Pours hazy brown with burnt orange highlights and a one finger beige head with decent retention. Taste is sweet and roasty with matching flavors. Not bad at all.
