Description
Great beer, great service, great space. Boiler Brewing Company and tap room is located in downtown Lincoln in the historic Grand Manse building. The stately stature of the Grand Manse is accurately reflected in the bold beers that brewmaster Tim Thomssen prefers to make. Aside from the ever rotating list of beers, mead and cider, food is also available. A unique experience in every glass.

Crowler. Pours a cloudy orange color with a tiny white head. The aroma is big juicy tropical fruit. Big tropical fruit, peppery, peppercorn, pineapples. Odd. So peppery. Not bad.

Crowler. Pours one of the haziest beers I’ve seen. Cloudy orange hue with a small white head. A big juicy tropical nose. Rich, spicy, almost peppery, huge tropical juicy hops. Light bitterness, fleshy mango and pepper. Works well. I’d chug this at a Nebraska home game.

4 oz. sample at the brewery. Aroma is a very nice blend of espresso bean, mild coffee and decent chocolate malts / roast.
The flavor has a nice roasted malt base with nice mild coffee hints through the sip. The alcohol is only mildly noticeable. The lingering flavor is coffee, chocolate and roast. The body is fuller side of medium with a smooth carbonation, it is good. I would have score higher if I would have tasted any bourbon at all. Elijah Craig not found in this sample.

4 oz sample at the brewery. Clear in color gold, thin lasting head. Aroma had a mild cherry skin and a strange herbal hint, nothing more. The flavor is really tame. Pretty boring. The lime comes out just a touch. Very weak body and a slightly odd herbal hint in the finish. And no it wasn’t cherry.

Draft. A- Chocolate. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Cocoa, slightly roasty. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Really not a lot going on. For Boiler I expected this to taste like a liquid Hersey candy bar. It wasn’t that sweet or that good. Okay.

Draft. A- Bubblegum, Belgian yeast. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Bubblegum, banana, candy yeast, subtle clove. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Pretty similar to any other tripel around. Not bad, but not a stand out beer.

Draft. A- Lime, lemongrass. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Cherry, subtle iron, lime, soapy. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, unbalanced finish. O- Odd stuff. Doesn’t really taste like a cherry limeade to me. Then again, why would I want a beer that tastes like a soft drink. Meh. Pass.

Draft. A- Toasted coconut. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Coconut, chocolate, sweet. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Almost too good. Tons and tons of toasted coconut. A bit like a liquid macaroon. I am suspicious about the use of artificial flavors in here but I’ll give it credit. I liked it a lot.

Draft. A- Black coffee, chocolate. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Coffee, chocolate, roasty. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Nice. Not sure I get any bourbon aging but it’s still a solid beer. Loads of coffee and chocolate. Tasy.
