Pours black with light tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, citrus, grassy, floral and alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long roasted, grassy and slightly bitter finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. This is more like a hoppy Porter than Imperial Black IPA.

Svart med rødskjær med høyt beige skum som legger seg fort. Malt, kaffe, einebær, mørk sjokolade,, kakao mye lukter her. Ikke like kompleks i smaken, men kommer søtlige og bitre smaker. Espresso. Lite kullsyre, kort litt saltbitter ettersmak

Bottle, at Hr. Redaktør. A dark brown, lightly unclear beer topped by a small light tan head. Sweetish, chocolatey aroma with a little too less hops. Grass and some pine cones. Citrus notes. It’s quite bitter on the palate, faintly warming and with a fine carbonation. Chocolate, caramel sweetness, pine cones and some citrus. Quite bitter finish, but with enough sweetness to deal with it. Well, it’s s nice try, but lacking on balance and its too much on the dark malt side. 140405

Bottle, at Hr. Redaktør. It pours a lightly hazy brown body under a small, dense beige head. There’s quite a lot of American hop pellets in the aroma, followed by roasted malts, some caramel and chocolate and a touch of coffee in the far back. Some perfumed notes. It’s pretty hoppy in the flavor too, pine cones and some citrus peel. Caramel and roasted malts, chocolate and a good bitterness. Full body and a pleasant carbonation level. Lasting bitter finish with a nice chocolatey touch and caramel. Well, it’s a nice one, but a tad unbalanced and I’d prefer more citrusy hops. 140405

500ml bottle, batch 39, bought at Meny Oslo City. Frothy near-white head, satisfying retention and lacing. Cloudy apricot coloured body. Details of caramel malts and herbal hops on the nose. Flavours of brown malts and dusty hops added by a touch of almond. Moderate malt-fruity endnotes. Medium bodied. Fair enough (hotel room, Oslo 29.03.2014).

500ml bottle, batch 37, bought at Meny Oslo City. Faint, bubbly white head to a cloudy orange coloured body. Rather subdued aromas of citrus, honey sweetness, and pale malts. Mild taste of lemon and grapefruit joined by a treat of biscuit. Resin-like bitterness to the aftertaste. Medium to thin bodied. Likable, without being great in any way (room at Grand Hotel, Oslo 29.03.2014).
