50cl bottle from Home Bargains, Cwmbran. A slightly hazy straw coloured pour with a loose white head; aroma of stewed grains; over-pastuerised grainy body; and a brief hint of cardboard bitterness. Not exactly a great pale ale, but what do you expect for 79p a bottle?

Bottle. A slightly hazy amber colored beer with a creamy, finger-thick light beige head that lasts. The aroma is rather malty and lightly alcoholic in the back, with lots of piney, resiny hops in the front. Sure suggesting a heavily hopped flavor, but I’m thinking it’s more like a cellared barley wine than a DIPA. It’s semi-sweet and lightly warming on the palate, with a good dash of bitterness, but it’s actually not more than it should. Caramel malts, bready hints and lots of pine cones and resins. Some citrus zest too. It’s full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated, with some warmth. Lasting bitter finish with some malts in the back. Not bad at all this one, but it seems to need close to a year in the cellar. I’ve tasted it twice before, but was far from this pleased with it then. 150313

50cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Storo. Pours hazy brown with a large, beige head. Fairly malty aroma with strong hoppy notes, pine, citrus, caramel, overripe peaches and hints of cat pee and metal. Sweet and piney with a harsh bitterness. Best I’ve tried from ColdBoy and fairly tasty, but feels quite messy. Long, bitter aftertaste with notes of pine and grapefruits. Hmmm. --- Beer merged from original tick of 8 Kanoner on 11 Feb 2015 at 19:00 - Score: 6

0.5l bottle, no batchnr. It looks really cloudy this, almost a little murky brown where it's resting in the glass and it has this impressive looking beige almost fluffy-creamy super-lacing head that never goes away. It smells quite nice actually. Lots of malty sweetness here, I get a clear to me of fresh detergent. It's also kinda yeasty and almost a little ripe fruits in a way. Dead strawberries and a little nutty yeasty hint in the back. Nothing spectacular in any way, but not bad either. Oh, it's quite alcoholic at first. Not hard to identify the abv's here, and it doesn't really taste like any dipa I've had before. Really malty sweet and almost a little sticky in the mouth. Thick sticky with a soft prickling carbonation level. Almost a little chocolaty with biscuits, a nice round bitterness comes in the second sip. I might have been a bit hard when I said that it didn't taste like any other dipa I've ever had, cause it has some nice hoppy qualities this. Almost a little dry licorice lingers along with sharp grassy hops and a lot of what tastes like alcohol to me. Could be the hops fooling me, cause I've never tasted a beer as boozy as this that only ticks in at 8 percent. A bit of pinewood is also detected here - not letting go. Yeah, I did not mind this one a bit actually. 16.07.2014

Bottle. Pours unclear brown with an enormous creamy brownish head. Aroma is quite mellow but with some pine and orange peel hoppiness, as well as sweet roasted caramel malts with bread. Full creamy body with soft to average carbonation. Flavour is initially sweet with caramel and fruity apricots and plums, before a bitter resinous and hoppy pine and orange peel kick in with a backbone of wood and roasted malts with bread, caramel and kandi. Evergrowing bitter finish with resin, orange peel and grapefruit. It’s not really bad, but definitely a bit too schizophrenic.
