Description
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

Backlog October 2009. Grey golden body under a big, creamy white head. Both aroma and taste are simply just like slightly sour blackcurrant candy drops, nothing else. Thin bodied and the same aftertaste. Totally uninteresting.

Light and refreshing. Pairs well with a game of Carcassonne.

Can on Christmas Day 2020, from Advent Calendar. Pours clear gold with shallow white foam and full lacing. Grassy, herby aroma. Strong malts and leafy hops in-mouth, and a grassy hop finish. A full, slightly viscous texture and plenty of body.

330ml can. Pours gold, small white head, no retention. Aroma is grain, citrus and grass. Taste is grassy, lemon, grain, earth, moderate bitterness. Light bodied and moderate carbonation. It lacks the clean crispness of a good Pils.

Bottle. Pours nearly clear rhubarb reddish with airy pinkish white head. Clear, dry aroma of BW yeast with some touches of jam. Dry, vinous flavour with estery touches and sweet notes of berry jam and, yes, probably rhubarb. Dry and sweet aftertaste with jamlike notes. Well, refreshing and drinkable but not entirely close to my idea of decent beer. More like the macro alcohol soda it actually is.

This is more juice than beer. Syrupy, tastes fine, but super sweet. There is a noticeable background ashy taste. Lidl hamburg
