On tap at the Local Taphouse Sydney, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of tons of roasted malt and light cocoa. Flavour is intense, with high sweetness, roasted malt and cocoa. Almost a syrupy palate. Nice stuff, but not exactly elegant. Good one.

Bottle. Hazy brownish blond with a fading loose white head. 2+ Aroma of crackers, honey, orange peel, aniseed, coriander. 6. Light bodied. Moderate carbonation is a surprise because it opened with a loud pop. Sweet with honey and crackers, orange comes through nicely but the spices don’t have much punch. Low bitterness. A pleasant quaffer.

Bottle. Black with a tan head that settles to a cm and is less than a coat after a while. Aroma of whisky fudge, chocolate, a little smoke, blackberries, cardamon. Oily, luscious. Low carbonation. Sweet with layers of fudgy/ singed caramel, some roasted malt, mocha, blackberries. Big sweetness is somewhat tamed at the end by bitterness and a drying waft of booze. The spirit notes are perhaps slightly less well integrated than the normal version. Like the normal version I wished for a little more stout and a little less barrel.

Hazy and very pale. Very hoppy aroma and taste. Medium bitterness, fresh pale malts, a bit thin in the finish but a good hoppy brew.

Bottle. Very boozy nose, with treacly topnotes. Pours oily black. Gorgeous in the mouth, coating tongue with a port-like tingle. This packs a big punch of licorice, raisins, vanilla with the bourbon permeating. My wife exclaimed "that ain’t beer". I retorted, "it’s beer in all its wonder".
