Tap at Noord-Hollands bierfestival. Almost black with beige head. Quite some coffee, roasted malts, light toffee and marzipan, licorice. Medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied. Decent RIS.

Sampled at Noord-Hollands Bierfestival, Alkmaar. Black with a small tan head. Aroma of big coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, roast and toffee. Flavour is heavy sweet and above moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle from het Biermoment, batch 1517 BB 11-20, 33cl sample. Dark color, short frothy lacing. Aroma of paint thinner and alcohol, sweet raisin and cognac, and some earthy coffee and licorice. Raisiny sweetness in taste together with alcoholic barrel notes, slight oak wood, high fusels, licorice saltiness. Its drinkable and slightly enjoyable as well, but unfortunately I rate for style and balance and this beer is a complete mess. Guess 9 out of 10 BA RIS is better, but it was worth trying.

Black, no head. Aroma is strong with vanilla and wood. Flavour is similar but with some sweetish red fruit notes too.

Bottle from Bierwinkel Alkmaar, Alkmaar, Netherlands, consumed on-board Stena Britannica on our way back home Monday 3rd October 2016 Pours black with a rapidly diminishing head, in fact there was barely a few bubbles. Very full flavoured, the barrel ageing lending it’s contribution to an already big beer, by softening the edges adding a slight boozy edge and a little mellowness. Lots of dark Christmas cake fruitiness, dates, raisins and currants soaked in booze. You can pick up a touch of coffee also, it’s nice. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.9

Bottle picked up from Gall and Gall, Alkmaar and consumed outside Frank at De Drie Morgen campsite, Nr Zoetermeer, Netherlands Saturday 1st October 2016 Pours hazy amber with a white head. I must admit I was a little surprised to see this described as a DIPA at 7.5%, believing that it is below the abv threshold, however it is very hoppy and jolly decent. Good streaky bittersweet throughout, a little hop burn on the roof of the mouth, fruity and very good. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle from Gall and Gall, Alkmaar, Nr the big Albert Heijn off of the N9 ring road. Consumed sat in Frank (Camper) at Camping Strandbad Edam, Netherlands Friday 30th September 2016 Pours murky mid/dark brown in colour with an off-white head Quite a meaty and malty beer, lots of caramel, tangy fruit skins, pretty decent. A6 A4 T6 P4 Ov12 3.2
