Draft. A hazy orange beer with a thin dense tan head. The aroma is sweet yeasty and estery combined with lighter notes of nuts, malt, and straw. The flavor is slightly acidic with notes of malt, caramel, and lighter notes of yeast, fruit, diacethyl, and phenol. Not good - couldn’t even finsh my 25 cl serving.

Draught at the brewpub
Nice hazy amber color; creamy head. The aroma has light roasted malt and too much ethanol. The body seems to be not too light, but the flavor is weak; there is very little to tell about it; the chestnuts are nothing more than a shade.
We can think that Apollo cares more for the appearance than the substance.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy amber/brown with a light brown and creamy head. Thick toffee nose and quite a lot of butter aroma but also a vague fruity note. Thin to watery mouthfeel and flavour of mild malt and slight herbal. Light bitterness in the finish. Decent but the aroma is too buttery.

Draught at Sct Clemens. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. Heavy malty slightly toasted aroma. Moderate bitter flavor, average bitter finish. Dry palate and too fizzy. Boring beer.

Tap, flakhaven Odense: Hazy orange with creamy white head. Hay corn & malty taste & aroma. Medium close to watery body. Nutty sweet with a light hoppy end. Can sense some light smokey notes as well - but all around pleasant!

(On tap) Slightly hazy amber golden with an off-white head. The aroma is a little hard to describe, somewhat tart AND smoked - if that makes any sense. Medium-bodied with some nutty accents and an unmistakeable Bamberg smoked note. This is very unlike any other chestnut beer I’ve had. The brew ends in the usual raw Apollo bitterness - although perhaps a little more subdued. 090807

(On tap) An almost clear, pale golden beer with a fairly nice, retentive, rich, white head. Typical Apollo aroma - whatever that means... Medium-bodied, lightly sweet and rather fresh and fruity. I believe I can detect some pear accents? Very subdued in its bitterness which really suits the beer well, and really would suit the raw Apollo beers in general. Not a bad try on a summer quencher. 090807

250ml draught at the brewpub in Copenhagen. Thin, but lasting white head over a pale golden body. Firm lacing on the glass. Discreet fruity aroma. Fresh summer taste with flashes of sweet fruits. Easy going brew and very refeshing, indeed (02.08.2007).

250ml draught at Apollo, Copenhagen. Hazy, red-brown body under a filmy layer. Fresh aroma of hay, grass and dark malts. Light spicy taste added by chestnuts, chocolate and hop bitterness all the way through. Went very well together with a cheese plate (02.08.2007).
