Bottle from the source. Pours with a murky golden body and minimal head. Aroma of grass, skunk, plastic, banana, vanilla, phenols and esters. Taste is burnt rubber, glue, pear, banana and asphalt. No idea what specifically is wrong with this one. Tastes very similar to beers I got at chain brewpubs in North Texas (not the Covey, there stuff was good). Lively bubbles try to hide the thin body. Lasting flavors of grass and skunk (light struck from a brown bottle I bought at the brewery?).

Bottle marked "limited release 2010" purchased at the brewery. Minimum hiss noise when opening. Pours with a clear golden body with a scant white head that fades to a ring quickly. Aroma of corn, bitter tannins extracted from grain, bread, earthy and woody (probably from tannins, not hops, but we will see), popcorn. Taste is dry, bitter, quite tannic, dry, earthy, popcorn, grassy, styrofoam. Not quite as bad as it sound, but I wouldn’t want to drink more than 4 ozs of this 22oz bomber. Wondering what went wrong with this one. Dry with decent carbonation. Not a great beer.

Bomber from BevMo, Salinas. Nose of light citrusy hops and a balancing caramel malt. Clear copper with a medium pale beige head. Flavor is moderate bitterness, moderately infected, and a little toffee note. Drinkable but only a mediocre IPA with the infected bottle.

Bomber. Nose of light flowery hops, caramel, and yeasty mustiness. Hazy urine yellow with a big pale yellow head. Flavor is a slight tartness, yeast, and a hint of caramel.

2009 Bomber from BevMo Salinas. Nose of coffee, chocolate, and a slight sourness; must be slightly infected. Black with a small cinnamon tan head. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, pepperiness, and a slight hint of off sourness; not too bad of an infection. 5/4/6/2/11/ 2.8 A fresh bomber of 2009 from the brewpub! Much better! Nose of strong roasted coffee and chocolate. Clear black with cherry edges and a small cinnamon colored head. Flavor is coffee and more coffee, light bitterness over a hint of chocolate. Very good this bottle.

Bomber from BevMo Salinas. Nose of pasty grain and yeast , only a very light touch of fruity esters. Hazy yellow with a medium, lightly lacing, pale yellow head. Flavor is lightly sweet bananas with a light bitter note to go with the yeast.

Bomber from Bevmo, Salinas Nose of toffee, caramel, and mustiness (is that why they call it an Old Ale?) Cherry copper with a medium beige head. Flavor is raisins, light bitterness, and a hint of licorice.

On tap at Opal restaurant in Santa Barbara CA. Terrible pour from the waiter (sorry) but it came with a slight, almost absent whispy white head and a translucent, nut brown body. Aroma was alright, caramel malts, slightly bread and crackers also a bit fruity. Flavor was all caramel malts, crackers, bread, slightly nutty. Finish was dry. The commercial description of this is ridiculous when you finally have a chance to drink it, but it was generally OK.

Bottle. 2004. Blackish beer with a HUGE cocoa head. Roasty aroma wiuth a slightly sour/fruity note. Infected beer - lots of sour flavors, but there is some roast that comes through. Island Brewing is 0/3 with me. Everything I’ve had from them has been infected. I wouldn’t recommend spending your money on drainpours.

Bottle. This is the second beer I’ve had from Island and the second one with an obvious infection problem that left it undrinklable. There is something definately wrong with their sanitation. Ruby-mahongony color with a HUGE beige head. Slightly sour aroma over malt and fruit. Sour flavor. Undrinkable. Drainpour. I won’t be buying any more of their beers after this.
