500ml bottle from Great Grog. Pours hazy brown, thin tan head. Light smoke on the nose, but mostly chocolatey porter aromas. Taste is more of the same, chocolate then smoke at the back. Light fruity sweetness. Prickly carbonation. OK.

330ml bottle from Grumpy Goat, Reading. Deep chocolate brown colour with Thin tan head head. Light aroma of fruit. Only a very slight smoke flavour, with some caramel, and chocolate.

On cask at Cloisters. Appearance - golden with a proportionate head. Nose - lemon and pale malt. Taste - lemon yoghurt and some grassiness. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - a well executed example of the style.

Bottle shared at my 5K tasting. It pours pale gold with a small white head. The nose is doughy, toast, grass, brioche, lemon peel and sherbet. The taste is crisp, toast, dough, earth, lemon peel, lime and some soap with a dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Fresh and crisp. Pretty alright stuff.

Bottle from alesela. It pours clear deep amber with a medium white head. The nose is caramel, wood, caramel, orange peel, tangerine and sherbet. The taste is bitter, pine, varnish, resin, caramel, grapefruit rind and a touch of soap with a rather dry-bitter finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. Perhaps a touch watery, but nice bitterness nonetheless. Decent.

Bottle at home. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, chocolate, smoke, peat, meat and umami notes. The taste is smooth, roasty, toast, light smoke, some medicinal notes, peat, coffee and chocolate with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Interesting and pretty well executed. Nice.

Bottle at home. It pours clear golden amber with a medium foamy-white head. The nose is bitter-sweet, biscuit, gooseberry and light toast. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, gooseberry, lemon peel, grapefruit, touch of caramel, wood and digestive biscuits with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Nice bitter-sweet balance. Solid stuff. Rather drinkable.

Pigs Ear. The Round Church, Hackney. Cask. Clear deep red amber beer with a bubbly tan head. Light very dry palate with a little fine carbonation. Light touch of dark chocolate. Mild coffee. Tangy dry fruits. Dry finish. Tasty if over dry.

Almost clear amber beer, little pale tan head. Palate is smooth and with fine carbonation. Clean malt. Surprising amount of smoke, goes all right with the marmalade hops. Little dry malt before the finish. Not bad, not what I was expecting but not bad!
