Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pour almost black with a small cream head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly milky coffee. In the mouth it has a creamy texture with flavours of coffee, roast malts and berry fruits. Plus hints of chocolate and liquorice. Finish is quite fruity. Quite nice.

Cask at the Hollybush, Stourport. Pours dark gold with a medium head. Aroma is straw and hedgerow fruits. Taste has hedgerow fruits and hoppy mango.

Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Pours deep brown towards black with a cream cap. Aroma: oats, roasted malts. Taste: light to moderate sweet & moderate bitter, smooth, oats, dark chocolate, trace of dark fruits. Light body with fine carbonation. Tidy.

Cask at Lych Gate, Wolverhampton. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a large cream head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly oats but with some hints of roasted malts. In the mouth it is smooth and creamy with oats again being very much dominant. Malts are still there though, as are traces of chocolate and orange. Finish is slightly fruity. Overall it’s quite nice.

Cask at the Oil Basin, Worcester, 10/09/22. Black with a good sized tan head. Nose is dark malts, chocolate, spice, light charr, coconut fudge, dark malts. Taste comprises chocolate, mellow roast, Bounty Bar, toffee, dark malts, coconut shavings, liquorice. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light drying close. Solid cask stout ... big coconut profile runs throughout.

Cask at the Oil Basin, Worcester, 10/09/22. Golden blonde with a good sized white cap. Nose is mellow citric zest, melon, tangerine, grass, perfume. Taste comprises orange peel, light breads, melon, floral notes, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with balanced juicy hop bitterness. Decent citric laden cask pale ... I'd guess an APA with the juicy hop presence but no gen on the hops forthcoming.

On tap at Old Royal Oak, Burton on Trent – as Korvaks Downfall. Pours almost black with a small cream head. Mainly malts in the aroma with traces of berry fruits and lactose. In the mouth it’s again roasted malts that dominate. Together with a melange of blackcurrant, vanilla, liquorice and alcoholic strength. Finish is a warming glow in the throat ! Wonderful – taken slowly.

Cask at Old Royal Oak, Burton on Trent. Pours a pale gold with a small white head and good lacing. There’s a strong aroma, mainly of citrus and lime, with some hints of biscuits as well. In the mouth it is sweet with floral hops, mango and marmalade to the fore. There’s some underlying bitterness as well. Finish is quite bitter. This is nice - well balanced and hoppy.
