Bottle from Butters. Black opaque pour with a huge gushy tan head. Cocoa powder and bitter chocolate aroma with a touch of burnt malt. The flavor is reminiscent of cocoa mix right from the Hershey’s can. A touch of bitterness brings on the dry finish.

Bottle: Auburn pour with a small tan head. Faded hops and citrus up front with a caramel sweet nose. Taste smooth and sweet with a blended faded hops and caramel base. Hints of chocolate, caramel, and again a faded floral note. Nice. Thanks Immy.

Bottle: Pours a beautiful amber pour with a thin beige head. Very intense aroma is sweet and citrus filled, a little malty, and some more fruitiness. Smooth and sweet flavor is a medley of caramel malt, faded citrus hops, and more sweet fruitiness. Some light floral bitters. Very silky smooth. Thanks Immy.

Bottle: Dark brown, near black pour with a finger of creamy brown head. Aroma is sweet and chocolate laced with a bit of the roast and coffee shining through. Flavor is rich and chocolatey sweet with some lingering roast and espresso. A bit more sweetness that regular chocolate, maybe thats the cane sugar? Silky, smooth, and delicious. Deep copper coloured body with a nice tan head. Aroma of fresh hops, clean malt, cardboard and some soap. Medium-bodied; Fresh hops up front in taste with a bit of a kick-nice flavour throughout. Overall, a nice pale-a bit more malt than a normal APA - great to try! I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Chantilly, Virginia on 23 November 2006 (Thanksgiving).

Deep dark brown coloured body, 75% opaque, with a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, strong nuts, a bit of coffee and even a slight kick of hops. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty flavours in the taste with a good prune and pit fruit taste, along with some light chocolate and coffee tastes. Aftertaste shows more of the same - a good roastiness throughout. Overall, a good porter - once again, nice to try! I sampled this beer on draught as a sampler at the Shirlington Oktoberfest in Arlington, Virginia on 07 October 2006.

Deep amber coloured body with some ruby highlights and a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of very strong hops with a malty kick and a pleasant floral nose. Medium-bodied; Strong hops in the taste with some good malt as a backing force of the beer. Aftertaste is dominated by the hops - which is a very good thing. Overall, a very good IPA - very welcome to the area...would like to try some more of this one. Definitely sample this one if you can find it! I sampled this beer on draught as a sampler at the Shirlington Oktoberfest in Arlington, Virginia on 07 October 2006.

Nice super hazy brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of strong oak, vanilla, pit fruits and a bit of whiskey - pretty nice! Medium to Full-bodied; Strong assertive oaky flavour up front with a good malt backbone and tons of pit fruits following behind. Aftertaste shows a bit of hop bitterness, vanilla, alcohol and a nice whiskey warming feeling at the end. Overall, nice to try and a good barleywine - large and great flavours throughout! I sampled this 65 cL botle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 08-May-2008, sampled on Thanksgiving, 27-November-2008 at home in Washington.

Sample at the Columbus Ratebeer gathering at ogglethorp’s 11/20/08: Bottle #1388. The beer pours a murky brownish-amber color with a thin and fizzy beige head that diminishes quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Oaky nose with notes of caramel malt and hops. Rich body with flavors of grainy malt, caramel and bitter hops. The finish is sweet caramel and malt at first but leaves a slow-burning hops aftertaste behind. Pretty good Barley Wine all around.
