Clear pale golden with a full head. Grass and cereal aroma. Dry, malty taste with some citrus. Fresh, distinct bitterness at the end. Classic, still one of the better of its type.

Single can from the LCBO. Pours a light yellow colour with a big white frothy head, good retention and creamy lacing. Mild sweet aromas of cereal malts with the light Saaz pilsener hops. The taste seems sweet at first, but the hops create a small bitterness over it. No corn detected. Seems like a decent mild pilsener with nice hops. Much better than most Euro Pils.

Syrlig duft av humle og malt. Lys gyllen farge. Tynn hinne skum. Frist syrlig smak av humle og malt med en liten søtlig ettersmak.

Very classic and typical northern German Pilsener with 19th-century roots, still brewed with the same water and a rare, Frisian hop variety. Dry and crisp, clean maltiness paired with a long, agreeable, dry hop bitterness in the finish. One of my favorite Pilseners, though it is said to have declined in bitterness throughout the years.

Northern German but otherwise quite typical Schwarzbier with light beige, moussy head and deep black-brownish colour with ruby hue. Roasted coffee and caramel aroma with some leafy hops and a hint of leather. Bit one-dimensional taste, mostly roasted bitterness, warming and enjoyable but I did have a few Schwarzbiers with more complexity.

Can from the LCBO. Light gold pour with a good sized white head. Very light malt and grain nose with little else. Sweet start with a bit of apple bitterness in the middle that wasn’t obvious from the nose. Mouth is thin and watery with soft carbonation and a dry finish.

From the archive: Der Antrunk ist vollmundig-süßlich, aber schon leicht alkoholisch scharf.
