(Can) Pours black with good dense tan head. Nice aroma of chocolate, roast grains, toast, nuts. Medium bodied, smooth, with plenty of good fine carbonation. Great taste, complex, rich and unusual. Starts quite subtly, pretty much regular stout. Rich chocolate develops and then a chili burn appears later in the palate. Initially the chilli is just a hint but it builds. Whilst I like chilli, I have not had many beers with chilli where it works. This is a good exception as it fits pretty well with the other flavours, and the burn is largely constrained to the finish. Different and enjoyable.

Tasting paddle at brewery. Amber. Piney nose. Super fresh. Not super hop forward but fun.

Pint on tap at brewery. Pale amber beer with a thin white head. Light carbonation. Laces well. Taste is grainy, fruity, malty with a light fizz. There’s a slight touch of aniseed in the finish. Nothing exceptional but solid. (As Staves Lager 5.3%)

Pint on tap at brewery. Black beer with thin film on top. Nose of chocolate, caramel, and cocoa. Full-bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Zingy, touches of chocolate. Short finish, slight bitterness. Lightweight but drinkable.
