Bottle consumed on premise, 6/11/16.
Large, off-white head tops a bright golden-brass body. Retention is moderate-to-strong while clarity is lightly hazy.
White pepper, soft oak, lemon, nectarine and then kiwi for days on the finish. First kiwi beer, actually? Wow, I think so. Well, it’s awesome, unsurprisingly. What a perfect fruit, having both a strong tartness/acidity and also light sweetness, with overall dry, yet juicy flavors. I could see the base beer having just a touch less body; as is, there’s a lot of tannin and malt/wheat texture. High carbonation, but mostly tight, helps break some of this up and soft oranges, lemon notes and more kiwi linger on in to the moderately tart finish. Pretty good restraint on the critter element, with no extreme sourness (though certainly sour). Saison character even shows through, with more pepper and lots of plastery minerality.

Cask at the brewery, 6/11/16.
Bright orange with a brass/bronze tint and a white head atop showing moderate retention.
Citrus and black pepper in the nose are joined by light cereals and baguette/biscuit-like breadiness for balance. Clean and bright with no heavy specialty malt dominance and no off-notes from the cask.
Sweet marmalade and soft black pepper give a moderate but still restrained hop character to the beer while vanilla, honey and biscuit provide ample body. Tight carbonation keeps it very drinkable and the natural wateriness of the cask continues to keep it going down easily. No alcohol or flaw. Nice, bright, dry stuff with a malty texture.

Cask at the lovely brewery, 6/11/16, listed at 3.7% abv.
Dark mahogany-to-ebony body has light cola tints and shows a seemingly high clarity. Tan head is large and shows moderately strong retention.
Big fruits in the nose mix with prune, dark chocolate, vanilla and a chalky-like minerality. Light treacle balances the creamy-honey base malts with more esters lingering on the end.
Fruity again, in the mouth, with apple, strawberry, cherry-like esters as well as prunes and treacle to deepen things and add a bit of acidity. Roasted barley is not overdone, but adds a touch of char and lots of dark chocolate, as well. Soft, amply carbonated texture is slick at times and appropriately watery for quite a high drinkability. Love the abv, love the cleanliness and love the condition of the cask.

At the source: pours golden with white head. Aroma is saison funk, hefty fruitiness, and minerals and stuff. Taste is slightly sweet. Dry. Funky. Still very full and powerful. Pretty dank.
