As soon as I crack this any notion that this wouldn't have enough bourbon, or it would be drowned out by alcohol/adjunct is immediately dispelled. Plentiful oaky, spicy, rich bourbon is the first thing out of the can, followed by a luscious hazelnut and cacao-like character with a bit of salty, sweet caramel behind it and plentiful malt, not too roasty, to balance. No alcohol whatsoever, no excess sugar, not utterly dominated by the adjunct, but they are represented and create a fun, interesting pastry stout.
The flavor goes even further. Rich malts with light-to-moderate roast set the base as wood tannin/oak and spicy bourbon give great complexity and flavor, followed by a rich hazelnut and light, earthy peanut-chocolate character. Every sip is exquisite; malty, flavorful, complex and most of all, balanced and dry. Body is chewy at most, with no syrup or sugary adjunct. The flavors all meld together wonderfully and the silky hazelnut-chocolate-bourbon-malt character lingers long. There's even a fair bit of PNW hop here, which is goofy as hell, but endearing.

Opaque petroleum black with a moderate tan head of decent retention. Roasted barrel, toasted malt, powerful esters, cocoa, chocolate, brandy, nuts, a reasonable amount of American Hops. Perfect thick body. Intense and beautiful. Highest class.

16 oz. can, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma has a decent whiskey barrel character for JD, with deep roast, oats, and some woodiness. Flavour has a somewhat harsh whiskey barrel character, with deep roast, light wood, and harsh JD on the finish. Why use such a shitty barrel for such a good base? The base still comes through, but the barrel definitely ruins this.

Dark brown. Very appetizing aroma, with rich brown sugars, umami. On the palate, less rich, but still really nice notes of dark malt, soft sugars, and a bit of molasses. A bit nutty. A touch of alcohol in the finish, light barrel. The barrel is what it is; the base is really good of course.

473mL can. Pours black with a small tan head. Chewy oatmealt malts, some brown sugar, and whiskey barrels on the nose. Flavour has cheap woody whiskey barrels and dry, roasty malts. The base is great, good roast, but the whiskey barrels come across pretty cheap.

Can from Tavour. Pours very dark brown with a slight dark tan head. Aroma of smooth dark/burnt malt and something of fruit. Full bodied. A little heat. Or maybe more than a little. A firm cherry aspect. Some chocolate. Malty and far from dry. There's bitterness, but I can't pin any hop. Definitely heat tho.

Black with a large head that dissolves quite quickly. Smells like a dessert: coffee, chocolate, vanilla, cream, licorice and caramel. After that the taste is a bit of a disappointment; dry, roasted malt, caramel and dark chocolate. Lots of coffee in the aftertaste. The body is surprisingly thin; the alcohol content should probably have been much higher, perhaps closer to 12%.

12oz can from Tavour. Golden pour, fizzy head yields a diminishing cap of foam. Mild cranberry aroma, tart. Taste is fruity and sour, cranberries. Dry finish.
