(Draught at St. Urho’s Pub Porter Days ’09) Very deep brown. Small white head. Fruity and roasty aroma. Full bodied palate with little carbonation. Fruitiness, roastedness, bitterness, some spiciness, sweetness and liquorice in taste. Liquorice and bitterness in aftertaste.

33cl bottle from ølfabrikken. BBF unreadable, but i think/guess bbf 2010 sometime. rated feb 2009. when opened quite a lot of beer came out as foam. nearly black, but through light actually deep cloudy red. large thick light brown head. honey, malts, dark fruits sweetness, very slight sourish note (orange peel perhaps, or fresh raisins). flavor is very sweet, but not too sweet, as the sweetness seems to come from many sources at once. dark fruits, wood, malts, cellary flavors, brown sugar, chocolate, very complex and deep flavor. mouthfeel is bubbly as is mouldy bubbly. not good palate. i’ve got ot deduct a few points overall for the bad mouthfeel, but if you are able to ignore that, the flavor is real good. alrady marked down for a rerate - this one is close enough to great that i want to try again sometime. somehow reminds me of westvl 12.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a fast-dying tan head. Bunches of bubbles rise from the bottom and sides, but are tough to see wih the opacity. Aroma of fresh malt, hops, sugar, yeast and a good amount of chocolate. Medium-bodied; Very effervescent; Strong assertive roasted malt with a candy-like sweetness following soon afterwards. Aftertaste shows more sweetness, chocolate, light pit fruits, yeast and a bit of malt coming forward. Overall, a pretty good and very sweet beer for the style. I was impressed with this one and I was glad I bought it! I sampled this 25 cL bottle purchased from Beer Mania in Bruxelles, Belgium on 17-November-2008, sampled at home in Washington on 04-February-2009.

Ridiculously huge, light-yellow head, leaving shards of lace over visibly very carbonated clear golden beer. Wet dog, garden weeds, rainwater, faint citrus peel aromas. Dry, crude bitterish to bitter flavour, dusty hops - but those are no C-hops in my reckoning. Again wet dog. Very spritzy, fizzy MF, overcarbonated; quite light body, refreshing qualities, rainwater quality. Strange, difficultly classifiable - which is a quality in itself.

Slightly hazy copper amber coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of honey, malt, yeast, wheat, curacao and nutmeg. Medium to Full-bodied; Pungent malt taste up front with spices and bitterness right there. Aftertaste mellows out and shows a rounded caramel and dry finish. Overall, an odd beer - too sharp around the edges, but nice to try-thanks Jon for this sampling! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 09-August-2005.

(Bottle at Poirotti Kallio on 2009-01-16) Golden. Clear. Medium sized white head. Yeasty and fruity nose. Medium bodied palate, dryish and medium carbonation. Sweetness, fruitiness, citric flavours, coriander and little bit bitterness in taste.

Vat (Draught) @ 15de BLES Bierhappening 2008, Zottegem, Belgium.Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, whtie to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, sour malt notes, moderate hoppy, citrus notes, spicy, licorice wood. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet, light acidic and moderate bitter with a long to average duration. Very refreshing. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20081011]

Brugge Festival 2008. Hazy pale gold, thin cream head. Green hop aroma. Spicy pepper hop, really bitter and hoppy. Finishing bitterness is very noticeable. Not a great aroma, bit of urine even, but mouthfeel and finish are excellent. tingling on the tongue finish.
