Description
Conceived as a ‘nomadic’ project, The Beak has spent several years creating unfiltered, seasonally-inspired beer with friends at some the greatest UK breweries, including North Brew Co, Partizan, Beavertown, Burning Sky and Northern Monk. We've now laid roots in our hometown of Lewes in East Sussex, where we've built a 15-BBL neighbourhood brewery and taproom with a mixed-fermentation project and weekend street food canteen. Please come and say hi!

Black beer, beige head. Main aspect of both the scent and taste is earthy malt and bitter dark chocolate. A splash of zesty fruit but only a hint. Aftertaste has that and a touch of licorice too. Rich and drinkable.

Bottle. Little Leeds Beer House. As Beak / Tap East Enigma. Hazy amber. Thin, sticky, lasting, off white head. Nose has pine resin. Spicy, toffee malts. Some citrus peel. Nicely dank and fruity. Taste is chewy sweet, turning oily, spicy, zesty bitter. Medium body. Smooth and oily. Oily, citrus zest, bitter finish. Very decent.

Bottle. Little Leeds Beer House. Hazy, dark straw colour. Thick, bubbly, bright white head. Nose has fusty malt. Lemon rind. Hint of cottage cheese. It’s not drawing me in. Taste is tart, lemony dry. Thin, acidic mouthfeel. Finishes thin, dry, and acidic. Didn’t get on with this one.

Bottle. Little Leeds Beer House. Hazy, orangey amber. Thin, lasting, bright white head. Aroma is slightly muted sweet, creamy malts. Ripe orange. Some strawberry toffee. Taste is pretty sweet. Some pithy bitterness. Palate is full, and a bit oily. Foamy carbonation. Finishes light bitter, and lip sticking sweet. Not enough juiciness, or bitterness, for me.

330ml bottle shared with Stefan at The Reliance. Pours a clear amber coloured body. Pearl white head with satisfying duration. Spotty lacing down the glassware. Inviting malt-fruity aromas of fresh orange and caramel. Fine blended taste profile of fresh red orange, pine needles, and toffee leading to a smooth bittersweet finish. Well bodied. Refreshing and tasty (Leeds 08.07.2015).
