Description
A small independent brewery based in Glasgow's Southside, established 2019. We value quality, tradition, innovation, and doing things a bit differently.
Simple Things is about brewing beer with a sense of place, exploring beer styles that aren't always easy to find and using ingredients that extend the flavour spectrum beyond current trends. The beers are often modern takes on traditional styles, or contemporary styles with a twist.
We love to drink big, juicy hazy IPAs with Ctira, Mosaic, Simcoe etc but that’s not what we do. There are plenty of people already making a really good job of that.
Exploring beer styles and ingredients that are not so well represented is what gets us excited. Our Big Ideas Series is where it all began; a range of styles that includes crowd-pleasing favourites such as Golden Ale, Table Beer and Session Stout alongside the more esoteric likes of Wheat Wine, Scottish Light, Peated Pale and Bretted 80/-. We recently introduced our Core Range, comprising a US-style Pale Ale brewed with only European hops and a Czech-style Pilsner. Our new Seasonals range is where you’ll find beers that are right for the time of year.
We use local and foraged ingredients when we can. All our beers are vegan friendly, unfiltered, unpasteurised and naturally carbonated through re-fermentation. We hope you enjoy them.

Can shared with my bro. It pours lightly hazy deep chestnut brown with a decent bubbly white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, juicy, tangy, plenty of fruit, plum, sweet beet, prune, raisin, sultana, brown bread, purple gatorade, fruit cake, brown sugar, caramel and cola. The taste is drying, bitter, woody, sappy, resinous, varnish, touch of spice, jammy purple fruits, plum, prune, blackcurrant, earthy beetroot, damp grain, dried leaf, leathery and toasty grain with a drying, earthy finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Interesting stuff. Somehow works well. Novel.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - murky yellow with a frothy off white head. Nose - dank, dish cloth, then peach and canned orange. Taste - a bit dirty but then rich melon and orange in syrup. Palate - close to medium bodied, tangy and rich middle and tangy half dried finish. Overall - good stuff.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours clear deep orange with a fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, sweet candied lemon, grapefruit, lemon parfait, dried apricot, brown bread, toasted almond, iced bun, brown and nutty accents. The taste is drying upfront, snap of bitterness, bitter - sweet character, toothy, woody, earthy, toasty spice, cereal, candied lemon, grapefruit, waxy peel, leafy, brown bread, hot cross buns, some alcohol warmth, dried leaf and some spice with a drying finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Really grew on me. Great depth of flavour. Balanced.

Can (6.5% ABV) from Lupe Pintos. Hazy amber/ruby body with a thin off-white head that slowly fades. Low carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of sherry and prune. Flavour of raisin, caramel, warming spices and a pleasantly tangy/boozy finish. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Sweet and luxurious. Well priced too.

Can. Almost clear orange gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Light malts, thin really, a touch of grain, nothing annoying, modest sweetness. Crisp pine intro to the hops and they are nicely layered. Mandarina up front with light but juicy overripe mandarin, a little peel bitterness underneath. Hallertau Blanc mild grape shows itself as theB starts to fade. The Barba Rouge showing a little ripe berries on the very end and through the light and semi dry finish into the aftertaste. Tidy, fairly clean and drinkalble.
