Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep brown and bright with a red hue. Thin off white lacing. Nose - cedar, toffee and dates with a funky edge. Taste - bread, dates, wood, sour plums, chewy toffee and hazelnut. Palate - medium bodied, inital sweetness then swept away somewhat with the sour finish. Overall - great stuff.

Bottle at ash's. Pours deep orange amber, nose is caramel, orange peel, dates, a little chocolate, taste is dry toffee, chewy, dates, a little fizzy, woody. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dubbel Barrel on 24 Jan 2022 at 14:16 - Score: 7

Draught at the local BrewDog; dar yellow/gold and slightly hazy pour. Aroma of wheat, slighlty sour. The elderflower taste hits at first, but becomes quite pelasant with a hint of grapejuice and wheat beer. Fruity and slightly bitter aftertaste. Not bad

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours hazy rose / blush with a decent white head. The aroma is musty, hay, cereal, grain, jammy berry, bramble crumble, tart, tangy and damp vibes. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, zingy, plenty of tangy berry, jammy, grape, musty, damp grain, touch of funk, wet grass, peppery spice and a hint of bubblegum with a drying finish. Average body and fine, prickly carbonation. Interesting stuff.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Cork & Cask. Pours clear copper with a foamy, tan head. Big funk about. Light-medium sweet flavour with rounded funk, ripening berries, poo, earth, bread, brett, a little grass and earth. Medium bodied with massaging carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, more brett funk, some farm, bready mats, nips of toffee and berries. Quite a bit of fun.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours hazy yellow - blonde with a decent sturdy white head. The aroma is fresh, doughy white bread, rich tea biscuits, orchard fruits, grass, cereal and grain. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, snappy, good grassy bitterness, herbal, orchard fruits, straw, white bread, biscuit, custard creams, touch of peppery spice and some underlying sweetness with a drying, grassy finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy/crispy carbonation. Lovely stuff. Flavourful, snappy and quenching. Grade A.

Cam from Westhill Service Station. It pours chestnut brown with a decent off-white head. The aroma is nutty, earthy, biscuit, brown bread, floral vibes and some spice. The taste is dry, bitter, floral, peppery spice, juniper, touch of black tea, nuttiness, wood, touch of underlying sweetness, dried fruits and resin with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Flavorful and satisfying. A well made bitter.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - hazy amber with a creamy off white head. Nose - cake, dried orange, apple, lime and light pine. Taste - dried orange, fresh green apples, fresh like, all against a backdrop of cakiness. Palate - close to medium bodied, quite a rich texture, balanced bitterness with a persistent linger. Overall - great example of old style IPA.
