Jaunsili kvass. Smell- weak, malt, bread. Foam- thin, sweet, bread, soft, large in mouth. Medium to large brown, white, orange foam, active, disappears fast. Appearance- clear, dark brown, red, some carbonation at sides. Taste- sweet, acidic, some bread and malt notes, refreshing, not too sweet, but close to it at times. Decent kvass.

Medium coarse head quickly disappears with a fissing sound. Clear deep dark brown body. Raisiny rye bread aroma. Sweetish earthy rye syrup taste with spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. No aftertaste. It’s like rye soda, really. (1.5l PET bottle, from Hirvamäe, a camping ground in Värska, Estonia.)

1.5l PET bottle of Jaunsili Kvass from my local Londis. I wasn’t sure what t expect from this! A cola coloured pour with a fast fading head; aroma of rye bread; fizzy in the mouth with a sweet malty taste; and a caramel finish.
