Description
The maritime brewery Skudenes Bryggeri is located at the extreme southern tip of Karmøy in the idyllic sailing town of Skudeneshavn.
Since 2014, we have grown to become a solid regional brewery in Haugalandet, and are constantly growing beyond the country, with an agreement with Vinmonopolet. Moved to Storamyr in 2016 but closed down in 2024. All beers produced by Arendals Bryggeri from 2025.

Bottle. A crystal clear reddish brown beer with a small beige head. The aroma has a very pleasant perfumed, forest-ish twist, lightly spiced from the juniper berries and toffee-ish, bready malts in the back. It's rather thin on the palate, certainly this should have been a full-bodied and lightly stronger beer, and the carbonation level is rather low. Semi-dry. Caramel malts, bread, a faint roasted touch and a herbal bitterness in the flavor. The lavender and juniper are subdued in the flavor, but still sure present. Quite short finish. Love the aroma of this one, where they in my opinion have found a nice balance, but the rest of the drinking experience is a bit disappointing, at least considering the good start. 200503

Bottle. A hazy orange-golden beer with a big rocky off-white head. Some lacing. The aroma has lots of yeast and some sulphur, with orange and some pale malts in the back. Grassy hints too. It's rather effervescent on the palate, medium bodied and dryish, with a soft bitterness. The flavor has some yeast and sulphur, fortunately not near the levels found in the aroma. Orange, lemon hints, bread dough and some coriander too, with the citrus fruits doing most of the finish work. Except for the loads of yeast and sulphur it's a decent beer, and even with it's sort of refreshing and quenching. 200503

330 ml bottle, from Bunnpris Sauda. ABV is 4.7%. Reddish brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma of lavender (which IMO belongs in soap and perfume, and not in beer), hints of juniper berries. Flavour of malts, caramel (but not too sweet), lavender, juniper berries and moderate earthy hops. Nice enough to drink.

Bottle from Gulating. Clear, dark brown body with a small, fast diminishing off-white head. Mild aroma of smooth roasted dark malt, some coffee and some dark chocolate. Taste is mild roasted dark malt, rather much dark chocolate, hint of coffee and moderate bitterness. Medium body and average aftertaste. Drinkable stout of grocery shop alcohol, smooth with no sharp edges, still it feels a bit plain with a lack of depth.
