Description
Once upon a time in a little garage on the headland of North Bondi Beach lived a nano brewery known locally as the Ben Buckler Brewery. All types of non-commercial craft beers have been brewing in secret for many years by head brewer Paul. Once he teamed up with his mate Brendan, they got to work and THE BONDI BREWING CO. was formed in 2018.

375ml can into plastic cup. NSW train to Armidale. Pale amber beer with a foamy white head. Light carbonation. Smells of tin and sweet malt. Zingy mouthfeel, neutral taste. Finish is lingering tinny bitterness. Bog-standard mid-strength, slightly better than the macros.

25/10/2022. Can bought at Pyrmont Cellars (Porters Liquor) Pyrmont. Pours hazy very pale orange gold with a short lasting frothy white head. Aroma of mango, grapefruit, pineapple, orange, peach, straw, yeast. Moderate sweetness and bitterness with light tartness. Medium body, oily, average carbonation. Pretty decent.

Schooner on tap at Beer deluxe, Barangaroo. Pours a hazy bronze/amber with a solid white head. Faint floral nose. Bergamot? Lavender? (The tasting notes mention Kveik yeast so that's what it is). Nice lacing, the flavour is sweet and juicy. Slight fizz, bitter-sweet fruit lingers at the end. That floral note remains throughout. Very interesting take on an IPA, much sweeter than usual. It's a nice beer, nevertheless.

375ml can into schooner glass. From BWS, Brighton-Le-Sands. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a large foamy white head. High fine carbonation. Nose is sweet, biscuity, touch of pepper. Flavour is light and hoppy. Finish is clean and peppery. Nice beer, no world beater, but nice.

(Can) Pours clear straw gold with small white head. Subtle aroma of cardboard with pine hints. Light body with good fine carbonation. The taste is not at all pleasant. The foretaste is rather washed out - there’s hints of fruity notes and some grainy notes but it’s dull and a bit watery. Some bitterness does kick in later in the palate but it is rather harsh. So disappointing I checked the BB date and it has over 11 months to go.

Can. Gold with decent head. Slight fruitiness on nose. Very straight down the line pale ale. Some brightness of flavour, but doesn't excite.
