Cask at Weymouth Oktoberfest. Smokey liquorice ar9ma. Dark and glossy. Frothy foamy beige head. There's a smoky tang followed by sweet berries. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Long finish. Nice but lacks character.

Bottle ordered from Tick Beer. Aroma has chocolate malts and dark coffee. Smooth vanilla edge. Dark. Cola tint. Creamy beige head. Light bitter. Sour edge. Coffee and berries. A light sweet periphery. Light-medium bodied. Creamy but thin. Flat-average carbonation. Long astringent finish. After an initial damp squib opening it develops some character. However it's still somewhat uninspiring.

Bottle from the brewery. Black with a barely-there head and a middling fizz. A little fruit in the aroma. Light vanilla creaminess in the flavour, with cola and a light roastiness. Maybe a tad thin for the style and strength, but pleasant enough overall.

500ml bottle from the brewery. Pours a lightly hazed amber colour with a small near white head that settled. The aroma is grainy malt, caramel and hops. A moderately sweet malty taste, cereal and caramel flavours with a moderate earthy hop bitterness.

Third, gravicask, at the 22nd Oxford Beer & Cider Festival. Shared with Finn. Hazed golden-amber body, naked at the surface, spotty lacing. Ginger nose. Perfumed ginger flavours. Ends like that. Drinkable, but not my kind of beer, sorry. (25.10.2019).
