Description
Amazing beers, plenty of creativity and a good portion of urban zest for life: these are the most important ingredients for our success. As Vienna’s oldest brewery, we have been known for having the highest quality and an extraordinary diversity of flavour for over 180 years. Our brewery resides in the heart of Vienna and has developed into a pulsating event location in accordance with our cosmopolitan flair. Here, in the heart of Ottakring, culinary and culture blend into a unique, delicious mixture.
The Ottakringer Brewery is the last remaining large Viennese brewery, and also one of the last large, independent breweries in Austria. This independence is extremely important to us as a family-run company. Our approximately 150 employees do everything in their power to keep it that way. The most important keys to our success are high-quality products, a wide variety of beers and our hunger for life, which has become our trademark.

0.5l bottle courtesy of ozujsko (thanks!). A fancy looking bottle and label with a fancy looking cap. Hmm. Poured a honey-like golden colour with a big thick head that went away at a medium pace leaving tons of lacing. The nose was "deep malt", dust and some alcohol. Sweet taste, but not really pleasant. Some very good malt, but that’s overshadowed by the nasty interplay of hops and alcohol that tastes like something that would come out if some inept schnapps maker decided to make a hops schnapps. A low, persistent alcoholly bitterness that gets revolting too soon. Alcohol in the aftertaste. It seems that either they have problems with consistency or that this is a true love/hate beer. My first bock.... pity. I really wanted to like it.

A yellow beer with a white lazing head. The aroma is hoppy combined with notes of straw. The flavor is of straw and citrus, with a dry end. Quite boring.

0.5l can from Billa (yet another supermarket chain). 5.2%alc.vol. Big white thick head that left scant lacing, fizzy, yellow. Faint malty nose. Taste ? What’s that ? A faint bitter aftertaste is all I could get at first. An extremely faint lemony background, and a tiny touch of malt seem to be there, but I might be imagining that. So faint. I know a guy who would love this because it goes down smoothly and has no real taste. I don’t but I also don’t really dislike it. It’s neutral, and it gave me 5 fun minutes of taste hunting.....I think I was right about that lemon...

Kraft für den Mann - Genuss für die Frau. So lautet der Spruch dieses Bieres, welches mit Kürbiskern-Extrakt gebraut wird. Davon merkt man allerdings nichts. Dieses Bier könnte man auch getrost als spanisches anbieten, so schmeckt es nämlich. Ein Nachgeschmack ist kaum zu vernehmen. Naja, hab schon besseres getrunken. Test vom 29.6.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,7,8,7,9,7 - 7,25
